Bring Back Airplane Mode & Audio Toggles to Your Nexus 5’s Power Menu
In an effort to make things simple and more secure, Google decided to slim down the power menu in Android 5.0. What once provided a quick link to shut your device down, turn on Airplane mode, and toggle volume states, has now been relegated to a simple power switch. Lucky for us, developer Gar Ynych has created a flashable ZIP that will revert these changes and restore functionality to the Nexus 5’s power menu. In a few simple steps, you can add the volume toggles and Airplane mode switch right back where they belong.

DIY Instant Cup O’ Noodles for a Better Lunch
Instant ramen and just-add-water noodles are lifesavers because they are convenient and fast, but they are also usually chock-full of processed ingredients and unrecognizable pieces of dehydrated meat and vegetables.
These DIY cups o’ noodles are still portable and fast for BYO lunches, but they are also much healthier than their convenience store counterparts. They also actually taste good.
I recommend using larger jars than petite mason jars; I used my jumbo-sized glass jars for the ones pictured here. I have a healthy appetite, so most of the other homemade ‘pot’ noodles I see online or… more
No LED Flash on Your Android Device? Use Your Screen as a Flashlight Instead
Using my Nexus 7 tablet as a flashlight to light my path on the way to my room late at night is difficult, and honestly, useless. It doesn’t have an LED flash for pictures, so using it as a flashlight is essentially just me brightening the display as high as it can go.
If your Android device lacks an LED light or has a broken one, you can still use it as a de facto “flashlight.” All you need is a simple app called Screen Flashlight, from the development team over at Zabamobile, which is free on Google Play. The app displays a blank, white screen at full brightness, which simulates the closest… more

Anyways, here’s shot from Abiqua Falls near Silverton, Oregon. Abiqua Falls has one of the best approaches I’ve experienced. (I mean assuming you don’t fall down the mountain like I did… I took the wrong trail.) It isn’t until you come around the big cliff walls that you can see the falls. It’s pretty incredible. You can hear it from so far away too, which just adds to the anticipation. It’s not like Silver Falls (another waterfall in the area) which basically has a parking lot attached to it. This waterfall has a much more remote feeling to it.
This photograph is comprised of two horizontal photos vertically stacked for a really wide angle. I also used a 5 stop ND filter for the waterfalls and the little stream.
