Windows 10 Offered As Free Upgrade For Windows 7 And 8.1 Users

Windows XP was one of Microsoft’s most beloved operating systems. When its successor, Windows Vista, emerged on the scene, few decided to become early adopters. Vista at the time was both costly and more unstable than XP, a combination that did little to appeal to consumers. Even when Windows 7 and 8 were released, XP continued to be the operating system of choice for many people. You had to shell out hundreds of dollars for a new version of Windows, which kept many from making a change.

With Windows 10, Microsoft is attempting to break this trend by offering the update as a free download for those with Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. This offer lasts for a year, and is designed to gently nudge folks into using the new operating system.

Will you be upgrading your system with Windows 10 when it arrives? Let me know in the comments!
