Degrees of Abstraction by James Neeley Georgia O’Keeffe used the forms, shapes, patterns and colors of the natural world in her wonderful abstract art. If we, in photographing the world around us, see only the grand landscape, looking beyond these same elements that inspired O’keeffe as well as her friend Ansel Adams, we will miss much of the beauty and “essence” that can be captured by our lens and sensor!
