Here is an long exposure taken during blue hour on O’ahu. The tide pools reflect the changing light in the sky as the clouds pass by over head.

Growing up on this island, I had never know about this spot. I found it while exploring new areas. This tide pool area was at just the right tide; waves would push up enough water to keep the reef submerged, but the waves weren’t big enough to be threatening. It was an incredible experience to wade though ankle deep water that stretched out quite a bit from the rocks you see on the right. The sunset faded slowly allowing me to take this long exposure well after the sun had crossed the horizon. It was quite a unique and magical water environment.
I invite you to join me on an epic Oregon Coast Workshop in May. We will be shooting a lot of seascapes.
