Oxbow Bend by dswindler by dswindler

Great news – Glen Hush and I are teaming up to lead a 5-day fall color photo workshop in the Tetons! Dates are Sept 28-Oct 2. With stunning fall color, rugged mountains, and plentiful wildlife, you’ll be busy pressing that shutter button. Get all the details here:

This shot is one of my all-time favorites that I captured early one morning out at Oxbow Bend. It had been cloudy and stormy the few days prior and we didn’t have much hope for this morning. But several minutes before sunrise, a special glow appeared in the sky and lit the peak of Mt Moran. Usually, reflections are darker than their source. But I’ve found a few cases where that doesn’t hold true and this shot was one of them. I think it has to do with how much silt and debris are in the water.
