“Tattoo”
Northern California coastline
Usually when I shoot the coast, the first instinct is to find areas where water is being channeled in an interesting way. Now that I’ve gotten more experience in areas that I frequent more, I’ve been more observant in other areas that can capture interest for a foreground. Usually my go to for a foreground is water patterns, but on this day, during sunset I had noticed the sand patterns as it was constantly being manipulated by the tide when it recedes. While most of the “great” light burn was far to the right (where the hoards of photographers were at), I worked this area (where there was no one). I knew this area held more interest for me. I wanted to keep a low angle and focus on the lone rock that is helping to shape the red sand with the receding tide. I took many frames with different sand patterns and a lot of with waves coming in and close to the rock but at the end, I felt I really like seeing the sand patterns and the reflections without the water covering it. I’ll definiately be more keen on sand shapes in my future excursions. Sunset predicted by #Escaype
Technical details: Most of this shot is a single exposure. I only blended a 2nd file to fix some issues in the background .
Have a great Monday everyone!
