Davenport is one of the places which initially inspired me to get into milky way photography, having seen a few shots from this place last year. However, for one reason or another, I could not get to shooting at this location until September. When one of the last dates approached when milky way would have been properly visible for the year, I made sure that I go there to get my shot. Finally, the Marine layer relented and Escaype predicted clear skies until midnight. I was really excited as I had been dreaming of shooting at this place for almost an year now. After taking a few shots there, I really wanted to include myself in the image, so even though the waves were not that high, it still required getting close enough to the sea stack that occasional waves came as far high as my knees. After a few shots where I moved a little due to waves, I finally had my shot.
This is a two shot vertical panorama taken with a 50mm focal length lens with camera in horizontal orientation.
