Saturday before last, some friends and I headed out to this fairly secret and unknown location. If you arrive at the right time of year, you get a field of Cala lilies in bloom under this awesome tree.
Unfortunately we were a tad early this year and there were no lilies blooming yet. Still… The tree is amazing and it was a beautiful day along the California coast so we set out to find some unique compositions without the lilies we had hoped for.
To be honest, I am pretty happy with what I came away with. This shot in particular I am personally quite fond of. I hope you all like it as well.
Some of you may recognize this tree as Marc Adamus has an amazing couple of shots from here (his with lillies). He has chosen to keep this location more or less a secret. I have chosen to do the same. The reason is simple and was proven to be a good idea n the first few minutes we arrived. We arrived quite early in the day and found only one lily in-bloom. To kill time and maybe find some other things to shoot we took a walk around some other trails. Some casual hikers arrived as we were setting off. When we came back to the tree, not 60 minutes later, someone had pulled the lily. I wonder actually if we were not early for the bloom after all. Could be that casual visitors have just pulled them all. đŸ˜¦
