Sisters of the Moon-Last Chance Mountain Range, CA by DaveMorrow by DaveMorrow

This image comes from a 3 shot horizontal panorama, used to capture the tallest peaks, in the Last Chance Mountain Range of Death Valley National Park’s Racetrack Playa.

The 95% moon provided awesome shadows, color and light over the Racetrack Playa creating an almost alien feel to the landscape.

Driving out to this location, in January of 2016, my brother and I did a few long distance day hikes in the area, as well as the summit of Ubehebe Peak which can be seen on the far right.

Traveling further beyond the Last Chance Range you’ll reach the Saline Valley, Inyo Mountains, & The Great Sierra Nevada Range.

For me, Death Valley is a special place. When I want to escape the world and go hiking / take pictures for a few weeks without seeing anyone, this and the Olympic National Park are my preferred destinations. In the past year I’ve spend nearly a month in this park and enjoyed every minute of it!
