Nature is not some abstract concept that we walk through on a beautiful day but a necessity, something we NEED on both a physical and spiritual level. Without nature, our hearts grow colder, a souls slowly shrivel. This for Lutgart and I is the purpose, the reason we strive to be a part of something that is greater than the sum of its parts. We seek our place in the great canvas of what is truly beyond us.

And nature, this part of it we refer to as the land, has a story to tell for anyone listening. This magnificent beast was found on our hike at Rainbow Point on the Bristlecone loop at Bryce Canyon.Though not as well know as the hoodoos, this remote section of Bryce has much to offer. Did you know that Bristlecone pines are among the oldest living things on earth? This particular species can live up to 5000 years old. Staggering. How much history has this sprout from the earth witnessed. The rise and fall of ancient empires. Cycles of rain and drought and who knows whatever else. But my point is this tree is a part of US, the human race and should be shown dignity and respect for what is knows. This bristlecone tree is so much a part of our earth and part of…..legends.
