Damascening or damasquinado / damasquino in spanish, is the art of decorating darkly oxidized steel with threads of gold and silver to produce patterns and figures. The art of damascene jewelry has passed from generation to generation within the same family for centuries, and has become the trademark of the city of Toledo in Spain.
