I think it definitely has not been easy for my buddy “Niki Haselwanter Photo” to literally “freeze” for 10 seconds for the shot on the top of that sanddune. With gusts of wind with 25m/s it nearly had been impossible to take any shots. Blizzards kept on hitting the coastline that night and it had been challenging not to been blown away. But during the gaps we could witness wonderful northern lights behind the Vestrahorn. The clearing gaps only lasted for a few minutes so we had to be quick to take our shots before the next blizzard was hitting us again. Anyway though being sandblasted for the hole night (I found a „handful“ of black lava sand in my backpack back home) it had been a magical night and one of my favorite places on Iceland.
