After a work trip to Addis Ababa a few years ago, I took the weekend to visit the town of Lalibela in Ethiopia, to explore the stone churches there. These churches (11 main ones) were carved out of single stones back in the 12th to 13th century and are still used today. They are incredible and worth a trip to Lalibela if you ever make it to Ethiopia.
