On a recent trip to Morocco we spent a night out in the Desert. We watched the sunset from the top of this dune – then later on with a perfectly clear sky, I decided to hike back up to the top of the dune above our camp.
This was one of the highest dunes in the area, and was much steeper and further than I’d remembered from walking down. I almost gave up reaching the top, but 3/4’s of the way up I figured I’d come this far and might never be somewhere like this again – so after a few rest stops I finally made it to the top.
This was probably one of the highlights of my trip to Morocco – sitting at the top of the dune alone, with no sounds at all apart from the occasional gust of wind blowing sand over the top of the dune. Then before I headed back down to sleep under the stars, I could hear the drumming of another Berber camp down the other side of the dune.
