When we visited Sapa in the North of Vietnam the rice terraces were bare. It was early in the year and the locals had only just started to do any planting. This meant that we didn’t see the rice terraces in their full colour glory. However it did mean we were able to see the intricate patterns that this farming leaves on the landscape.
