The lake is located in Yufu city in Oita prefecture, Japan. I went there to enjoy the famous rich natural hot springs and took this photo just two days before a major earthquake hit the Kumamoto area. A lot of buildings collapsed or were damaged; there are still many people living hard lives in temporary shelters as aftershocks continue to hit the area. I really hope that the aftershocks stop soon and things go back to normal as soon as possible.
Both Oita and Kumamoto are very beautiful and relaxing places to visit, with lots of nature, hot springs, and good food. If you ever have the chance, I recommend that you go there and enjoy some sightseeing when things settle down. It will help support these areas.
