The Old Town, Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina, 2014 by thewaxmm by thewaxmm

As it began to get darker out we headed back to Mostar to shoot the infamous bridge. The rain poured and then passed, and we decided to head back and change into dry clothes before shooting the bridge at sunset. When we departed from the hotel we became more aware of our surroundings: the building directly across from us littered with bullet holes with shell casings still stuck in the holes, the same with a school nearby. We’d left without our map so we ventured across another bridge to gather our bearings. The view was obscure, a perfectly manicured building next to a bombed out facade protected by scaffolding. The general reaction to the site, and several other sites around it was indifference. No one seemed to notice the destruction that had been done, but I suppose that is because so much rebuilding had be undertaken, the town was surprisingly vibrant despite what we’d just witnessed in the doc. We soon realized that Bosnia had just won their world cup game. We wandered along the cobblestone streets, crossed the Old Bridge and walked down to the water. Here we shot a timelapse as many locals bore their Bosnian flags. The fog rolled in under the bridge as the stone city lit up.
