My3rd backpacking trip was within the Mount Zirkel Wilderness. I was much wiser, packed way lighter and not trying look always pretty for my then-boyfriend-now-husband. I enjoyed every minute of this trip. This is Lake Katherine — the first lake we hit on the trails at about 9,000-10,000 ft. It’s a picture perfect jade-color glacial body of water and remains one of my favorite lakes of all time.
