Hveravellir, meaning “The Hot Spring Fields”. is located on the edge of the 8000 year old Kjalhraun lava field 650 meters above sea-level in the Icelandic highlands

There was an old route through this area from north of the country to south, which is referred to in the Viking Sagas with the first references being from around year 900. This road is called Kjalvegur road and that´s more or less the same route we follow to this day

There is a high temperature geothermal area here and also a lovely hot pool in which one can bathe
