5 Reasons Why Wearing Safety Boots at the Workplace is Crucial

Safety boots aren’t the most glamorous footwear you can take to work. They also aren’t the lightest ones for your feet. Surprisingly, however, safety boots offer a lot of benefits not just for your feet but your general health as well. They can even affect your productivity at work.

If you’re still thinking twice about wearing your safety boots to work, here are some of the best reasons why you definitely should.

1. They protect the feet

safety-boots-for-work

This is probably one of the most obvious reasons why you should always wear your safety boots. They offer protection against punctures as well as slips and trips. They can also protect your feet from burns.

Safety boots are often made of durable materials to withstand a wide range of workplace hazards. There are various types of safety shoes so make sure to find one that will fit your unique job role. If you know you’ll be exposed to electricity and high voltage machines, choose electric hazard shoes. In case you’ll be assigned to handle heavy industrial materials, you can pick safety-toed shoes.

If you know you’ll be exposed to electricity and high voltage machines, choose electric hazard shoes. In case you’ll be assigned to handle heavy industrial materials, you can pick safety-toed shoes.

2. They offer support

Safety boots are often heavy but they are great when it comes to supporting proper posture. Since workers often have to stand for long periods of time, this type of footwear can help ensure that their feet are properly cushioned and supported.

By ensuring your feet’s comfort, you’ll less likely feel fatigued. They can also decrease the strain on the muscles of your lower extremities and your chances of developing chronic work-related musculoskeletal disorders. Since they lessen fatigue, you’ll be able to do your work faster and better.

3. They offer protection against extreme weather changes

Extreme weather conditions can result in a lot of health problems. An intense low temperature, for example, can reduce the blood circulation in your feet. If this type of exposure is prolonged, it can cause nerve damage and even death of the area.

There are also medical conditions, like Reynaud’s Syndrome, that can easily be aggravated by weather changes. Reynaud’s Syndrome is a condition where a person’s extremities can turn purple due to poor blood flow after being exposed to cold weather.

Take note that not all safety boots are insulated so make sure that you find one made with the right materials.

4. It helps avoid lawsuits

safety-boots-for-protection

Because of how important safety boots are in workplaces, wearing them has been a part of the regulation. It should be followed at all times to ensure every worker’s safety while working. If your company fails to provide safety boots or isn’t strict when it comes to making every employee comply to regulations, they can get sued.

Lawsuits involving workplace safety aren’t only time consuming and expensive but they can also cost your company’s permits and licenses. Aside from safety boots, workers must also wear shirts with long sleeves, long work pants and protective head gears. They should also wear eye goggles and face masks if their work puts them at risk of getting splashed with chemicals or toxic particles.

5. It can help you keep your work

Employers aren’t the only one responsible for making sure their employees comply to the rule. Workers are also responsible for their own safety at work. Under the OHSA Compliance Standards, employers can send their workers home if they fail to act in a safe manner. They can also terminate employment in the event of employee misconduct.

For your own safety and protection, make sure to wear your protective gear all the time. It isn’t only a necessity during inspections and assessments.

6 Ways You Are Making Your Depression Worse

Why is it that all your friends seem to have such perfect and lovely lives? You see them traveling the world, enjoying sunny holidays, playing with their cute pets, and raising happy families. Well it’s true, but the truth is that everybody has good and bad days. What you see on the internet is people promoting the best parts of their life – nobody wants to advertise the bad parts – it would be too dramatic.

But we all have some bad days every now and then, and depression is a real problem, especially among working class people who often feel like their efforts and going no where and are bored with life. There are a lot of things we do when we are suffering from depression that stop us from recovering as fast as possible. Oftentimes when we should be out and about learning new things and distracting ourselves, we hide ourselves inside with self pity and refuse to accept help. It’s the biggest problem depression exists. We need to stay away from bad habits and accept positive change. Here are a few bad habits we have when we are sad, the exact things we should not be doing. What should we do instead? The opposite! Stay healthy, stay active.

depression_11. Spending too much time on the internet

Isolation is our biggest problem when we are depressed – we should be socializing and distracting ourselves but it is hard for us to get beyond our struggles in our mind. When we stay at home, what do we have to do? We play on the computer. We spend all day on our phone looking at others people’s happy lives, pictures, and events, and it just drags us down deeper and deeper. Why can’t we just be like them? They look so happy and we are not. Why do their lives look so perfect and ours are the way it is now?

The problem with social media is that we spend all day comparing their lives to ours, without remembering the fundamental fact that everyone has complicated and emotional lives, and that we only advertise our highlights on the internet. Of course everyone looks happy on Facebook – we are promoting our best parts. But when we are depressed we forget that everyone has a colourful and varied life and we suffer from tunnel vision.

Stay away from social unless you have a hardened sense of reality and can remind yourself to look past the blur and simply feel gratitude for the uplifting pictures other people will be posting.

2. Eating junk food

Yum! Cake, chips, crisps, chocolate…all these delicious things seem to be so much more delicious when we are suffering from depression. The last thing you should be eating is junk though. Your mind is under enough duress when you are depressed, and you need to keep your body in tact during this stressful time. There are plenty of comfort foods that also satisfy the sweet or salty tooth, but don’t involve eating an entire box of ice cream. Think about mom’s rice pudding, a nice fruit shake, or some gluten free desserts from a local cafe. Same great taste, not as much stress on your body.

3. Smoking…anything

I had a friend who suffered from depression for a while, and in the depths of it he immediately relapsed into an old smoking habit of his. It’s easy to want to smoke since it appears to calm our nerves and gives us something to do with our hands and mind, or perhaps gives us a reason to go outside. The truth is though, that it is a nasty habit that reconfigures what your brain and body needs, and acts as an appetite suppressant when you are probably already suffering from a decreased appetite.

My friend ended up getting to over a pack a day before he healed himself and quit cold turkey the next day. By the end of it, he barely ate and could not taste food anymore. Luckily he recovered completely and went on to live a healthy life. Just don’t do it.

4. Drinking alcohol

Perhaps some would resort to drinking alcohol instead, and the reasons are too easy to see. It’s legal, openly available and socially acceptable to drink – when you are depressed and have nothing to do, why not drink more? It gives you a reason to go out, or gives you a reason to stay in. Unfortunately, it’s not a good reason.

Alcohol does to us exactly what we should not be doing – limiting our brains, making us lazy, and actually poisoning us. We should be doing proactive things that stimulate our minds and distract us – not the opposite. It’s easy to go out and buy a bottle of wine and watch a movie – we probably do it anyways. But with a cloud of depression, a bottle of wine or beer is just a toxic combination that leads down a slippery slope to more regression, when we should be moving forward with our recovery.

5. Staying inside

The best recovery for depression is going out, meeting people, seeing your friends, and exercising. Unfortunately, that’s exactly the opposite of what we want when we are unhappy. We want to stay inside, flick through movies, listen to the same music over and over again, and have nothing to do with people. We feel trapped, and we do it to ourselves. The image of a sad person in a dark and quiet house is not just social, it’s real. Do yourself a favour and spend as little time inside as you can. It will seem futile to even go outside and go for a walk – you may feel frustrated or lonely, but anything is better than staying in. Insist that your friends ask you out, and take up the offer. You need to be distracted.

6. Avoiding our friends

Comfort is important in our life and even more so when we are suffering from acute depression. Therefore it is 100% ok to bother your friends when you feel depressed and ask for their help – that’s what they’re there for. What should you not do? Avoid your friends. Do not feel like you are bothering them. You should be, and when they ask you to go out with them, you need to accept the invitation and go with them. They are trying to help you and mean well. You are not a burden on anyone. Everyone knows that we all go through dark times. It’s acceptable and you should enjoy the hospitality. At the end of the day, your friends and family are the most important things to you. Enjoy their love and reciprocate it.

12 Success Tips for Young and Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Most people think that being an entrepreneur is difficult and complicated. While some aspects of entrepreneurship might prove complicated, it’s not all that difficult. What’s important is that you have dedication and knowledge about this sort of work and that you play it smart. Not everything will be easy, and you’ll most likely encounter some obstacles along the way. The key is motivation and commitment because success doesn’t come when you give up on the first hurdle. If you want to become a successful entrepreneur, then these tips are perfect for you. Here are twelve success tips for young and aspiring entrepreneurs!

next_great_entrepreneurGive yourself challenges

Life isn’t easy, and it will give you a hard time. No job is easy, no matter what people think. I’ve had people say that writing is a piece of cake only for them to go back on their opinion after they try writing something that I usually write. It’s best if you set yourself some challenges and overcome them. You’ll be feeling much better about yourself, and you’ll be very positive. Finally, you will be able to say ‘Yes! I did it!’

Get over your fears

Your fears can be your downfall. We understand that you might be scared of the unknown and that you can’t do some things that require you to step into the unknown but trust us, there’s nothing to worry about. Fight your fears and show them who the boss is!

Love what you do

I’ve always said that you shouldn’t do something you don’t love or work at a workplace where you don’t feel comfortable. Your potential is massive, and you shouldn’t confine yourself doing something you hate. If you truly want to become an entrepreneur, you’ll need to love the business because only then you can become maximally successful!

Plan your financing

Controlling your finances can make or break your business. Divide your finances accordingly and with the future in mind. Don’t simply spend money on unnecessary things just because you can – be smart and spend only what you have to. Leave the rest for emergencies because they are bound to happen at least once!

Be willing to take risks

Risk-taking is widely accepted as one of the most powerful traits you can have. Sure, risk takers sometimes make a mistake, and they end up causing more damage than good. But on the other hand, once they realize their goals, the gains are significant. Playing it safe isn’t something you should be doing if you’re an entrepreneur, but you also shouldn’t make rash decisions. Take calculated risks to prevent any big problems from appearing! If you plan on selling high-risk goods, you will need to find a good high risk payment gateway.

Know what you want

You can’t be running around trying to accomplish everything. It’s not how the world works. You also shouldn’t try to become an entrepreneur until you figure out what exactly you want. If you don’t do that, you’re going to find yourself in a weird situation where you don’t know what to do because you don’t know what you want. Don’t let this happen!

Listen to complaints

The people around you are the ones that notice if you’re doing something wrong. They will come to you and tell you what to fix, and you should listen to them. You aren’t perfect; no one is. Try to improve anything that isn’t working out!

Learn from your mistakes

Once your colleagues or workers tell you what you’re doing wrong, fix it. After that, look back at your mistakes and try to learn from them. There was a reason behind each mistake – try to figure out those reasons. Don’t repeat the same mistakes because chances are, the next time you do; it might be even worse than the first time.

Take action

You should constantly be working on making your business and yourself better. Even when you achieve success and think that you are in a position to relax; you shouldn’t simply sit around and do nothing. If you don’t care enough about your business, especially when it becomes successful – it will start falling apart.

Put in your time

Each job or activity that you do requires your full attention and time. No one likes people who don’t finish their job completely or people that don’t care about what they’re doing. Plus, if you end up like this, it will cause major issues with your business and reputation!

Set goals

Don’t go about your business without clearly set goals. Goals are great because you can constantly evaluate your business’s success and if something isn’t working out, you’ll be able to figure out what to change. You should always have clearly set goals for yourself and your business.

Understand your customers

Your customers are what make your business what it is. You need to be connected to your customers because you’ll need to talk to them, promote your product to them, and various other tasks that depend on your understanding of your customers!

Why Is Turmeric The Best For Kidney Health?

Did you know that turmeric is amazing for kidney health?

One of the most challenging failures when it comes to the body is kidney failure and this explains why you come with two.

The kidneys are your body’s garbage disposal unit

Having two kidneys allows your body to have a more rapid turnover of fluids. This means that there is a greater clearance of chemicals in the body.

We also have two kidneys so that we have a backup in case the other should fail because of old age, trauma or disease. The kidneys are like a huge garbage disposal in the body; their sole purpose is to clean your system by discarding toxins.

kidney-health

Kidney failure will take you out faster than any other failures in the body because of the processes that take place on the body. If the kidney stops working and stops to clean out your body, you won’t be able to survive for long when it is left untreated.

With severe kidney failure when you cannot even produce urine anymore. You can only survive for two to three weeks. The best option at this point would be a transplant.

Can you imagine the kind of condition your body would be in if you kidneys fail to function properly?

Turmeric reduces kidney inflammation

Turmeric is one of the best ways to condition your kidney enabling it to work more efficiently for more than one reason.

Kidney failure is mainly caused by inflammation in the kidney, which is why Turmeric kidney solutions are the best. Turmeric works by reducing inflammations in various parts of the body, including the kidney. 6 Surprising Remedies That Reverse Hair Loss And Regrow Hair

Hair loss is something that could potentially affect us all. We’re an image conscious bunch, and the last thing we want to happen is to look in the mirror one day and see lock after lock of our glorious hair begin to disappear before our very eyes.

It can come in many different forms: bald patches, receding hair lines, and general thinning of the hair. Hopefully it’s just one of these issues and not several of them combined. Whatever the problem though, there are luckily natural remedies to help combat hair loss and keep your confidence levels on tip top form.

Read on to find out what some of the absolute best natural hair loss prevention methods are.

Carnitine

carnitine

Carnitine is a naturally occurring compound vital for energy production; you’ve probably encountered it before as it is commonly used as a fat burning supplement.

As well as helping to promote the transportation (and excretion) of fatty acids within the system, carnitine also helps to promote a constant energy supply to all aspects of the body’s internal functions. This includes the hair follicles.

You could almost see carnitine as a stimulant; it promotes the growth of hair on the scalp due to the “kick start” it gives the cells in the area, thus sending their production of human hair into overdrive.

If you haven’t already; you should seriously consider including carnitine as part of your hair loss remedy supplement arsenal.

Capsaicin

capsaicin

You’ve seen capsaicin before but probably not in a form you recognised! Capsaicin is the compound responsible for making chilli peppers (and other pepper varieties) hot. Because of this, if you haven’t seen it before, it’s highly likely that you’ve definitely felt its effects.

You could be forgiven for never wanting anything to do with this compound again if you’ve found yourself a victim of a slightly “too hot” vindaloo but you’ll be robbing yourself of immense hair loss prevention benefits if you do.

Capsaicin promotes the release of insulin growth factor 1 (IGF-1) in the scalp; an absolutely integral compound needed for hair growth in humans at any stage of their development. Should you find that your hair growth has stalled a little, it could easily be remedied by boosting your IGF-1 levels via capsaicin supplementation as well as topical use.

Its potency is also increased when combined with the next item on our list.

Soy Isoflavones

soy-isoflavones

Soy isoflavones are a fantastic way to reduce DHT levels within the body thus giving your scalp more of a “chance” to develop new hair. This will actually help to stall hair loss too which is fantastic.

On its own, this is a beneficial supplement to take if you simply want to reduce the potential of hair loss taking place. But, where it really comes to full fruition is when it is paired with capsaicin as the two work together in perfect harmony to help not only reduce, but also produce new hair cells.

As the soy isoflavones work to reduce DHT levels and stall hair loss, the capsaicin works to promote IGF1 production and generate new hair. That’s a pretty fantastic combination we’re sure you’ll agree. We highly recommend using this combo both as a oral supplement, as well as a topical remedy.

Raspberry ketones

raspberry-ketones

It’s probably not going to be too difficult to convince you to eat more raspberries. Who doesn’t love them? They actually come equipped with ketones that help to reduce body fat levels too. This is how most people hear of raspberry ketones in the first place.

In this instance though, we’re not looking at its fat burning capabilities. This is all about hair regrowth and hair loss prevention. Luckily, it has been shown in tests that raspberry ketones are actually highly effective at promoting hair regrowth.

Topical application of raspberry ketones work in a very similar way to capsaicin in that they promote the release of IGF-1 within the scalp. This leads to the production of new hair cells and helps to combat potential hair loss by keeping your hair count as high as possible.

If not for the other potential benefits raspberry ketones have to offer, this benefit alone is well worth their inclusion in your hair loss arsenal.

Biotin

biotin

Biotin is one of the most essential components needed for healthy hair growth and is one of the easiest to completely miss out on too. You’ve got to ensure you take in adequate vitamins and minerals on a daily basis if you want to ensure that you not only take in enough biotin, but you also receive a hit of the other vital elements needed to produce hair cells like vitamin D and Iron.

Biotin is a form of vitamin B (vitamin B7 to be precise). It’s easy to see how so many people neglect it because all forms of vitamin B tend to come from green and leafy vegetables as well as oily fish, eggs and other items that we typically ignore as part of our modern food intake.

It works due to the fact that it aids the protein keratin in its vital production efforts throughout the body, one of which is the construction of hair, thus ensuring that you don’t see any signs of thinning any time soon.

Jojoba oil

jojoba-oil

Jojoba oil very closely resembles the natural oil produced by human skin.

We need to secrete oil in order to keep our pores well lubricated and prevent any potential blockages. This is an incredibly important bodily function that is perhaps needed the most on the scalp.

When your scalp dries up, pores get blocked and you begin to produce dandruff due to the skin on the surface of the scalp drying out and flaking. When this takes place, hair growth becomes incredibly difficult due to there being no “space” for hair cells to grow amidst the clogged up dirt.

By applying jojoba oil to the surface of the scalp, this will ensure that the pores stay well lubricated and hair growth is able to flourish fully.

Conclusion

These items are very easily sourceable and they’ll all help you to maintain your current head of hair whilst also preventing any future thinning.

If you’re already at a stage where negative effects have taken place, don’t worry. By incorporating either one or several of these products, you’ll be sure to maximise your hair regrowth potential and recover those hair cells in no time at all.

7 Golden Rules to follow for Healthy, Glowing Skin

Irrespective of our age and gender, we all want beautiful skin that is free of blemishes, pimples, dark circles and other skin problems. But the science behind taking care of your skin is not very complicated

Want to know the best ways to get clear, glowing skin? Let’s take a look at the following tips.

close-ups beauty happy girl portraitMoisturize

If you are a person who suffers from dry skin, then it is particularly critical for you to moisturize your skin daily using a good moisturizer.

Choose a moisturizer that contains the ingredient glycerin as it has the capability to lock in moisture. The goal is to restore and replenish moisture levels for better skin. Also, remember to reapply the moisturizer after you shower irrespective of the fact whether you shower in the morning or night. The need to moisturize is very high in the winter as the skin is more prone to dryness.

Choose The Right Cleanser

Always be sure that you are using a cleanser that is not very strong for your skin. Strong cleansers may eliminate natural oils from your skin. If the products are made for blemish prone skin, then it might result in over-drying and will make the skin vulnerable to many environmental hazards.

Exfoliate

It is important to exfoliate your skin regularly to get rid of dead skin cells and also to improve skin turnover. This will drastically improve your skin’s texture by adding glow and softness to your skin. To boost blood flow, massage your skin using a facial scrub in a circular motion.

Be extra careful with the eyes

It is important to be extra careful with the skin around your eyes. It is said to be ten times more delicate than the skin present on other parts of your face. So, you should do ample research on everything from choosing an eye makeup remover to selecting items for cleansing. Some cosmetics can cause irritation and itchiness. So be extra careful.

UV Protection

Do you think that the sun’s rays can cause damage to your skin only in summer? Well, UV rays can be proficient in other seasons as well. So, always apply sunscreen before stepping out. You can also ask your dermatologist for advice on getting a sunscreen that will not be very harsh on your skin as you plan on wearing it often.

Think Holistic

Take care of your skin from inside out. You can do so by drinking lots of water, eating water-rich vegetables and fruits. This will help you stay hydrated and will make your skin radiant and plump. Drinking 8 glasses of water a day is needed to combat tight, flaky and dry skin.

Making better decisions regarding your diet can also help a lot in improving the overall health of your skin. Ensure that you consume dark leafy greens as they provide omega – 3 fatty acids and vitamins A, C, and E. These nutrients will nourish your body and also give you a glowing complexion.

Getting at least 8 hours of sleep is extremely crucial as your skin ends to repair itself during your sleep.

Exercise

Exercising not only keeps you fit but also gives a glow to your skin. When you improve your heart rate through cardio and aerobic exercises, you are providing an adequate source of oxygenated blood to your skin. Regular exercise can also keep stress-related hormones in check. This way it can combat aging and aid in collagen production.

The process of sweating will cleanse your pores and combat problems like acne. Once you finish working out, wipe your face with a fragrance-free wipe. Avoid exercising with makeup on.

Other Tips

•  Limit your Caffeine intake as it can negatively impact your skin. Caffeine can contribute to skin dryness and will make moisturizing less effective. If your caffeine intake is more than the recommended limit, it can cause dark circles and dehydrated skin.

•  Never squeeze or press your pimples. It may leave permanent scars on your skin. Refrain from smoking and alcohol as they can negatively impact your skin.

•  Use a toner to shrink enlarged pores and keep your skin fresh.

•  Use a nourishing lip balm. This will keep your lips healthy.

Following the tips listed above can be of great help in fighting skin problems. Be ready to welcome healthy and glowing skin.

How I Caught the Solo-Travel Bug (and met MC Hammer) in One Weekend

We all understand the value of embarking on a new journey with our loved ones. No picture can replicate the memories we create with our friends and family members, but there’s something to be said for making time to travel just for you.

One memorable solo trip for me was when I spent some time in San Jose, California, as well as San Diego, at the end of a work trip in San Francisco.

Because this was my first chance in years to travel by myself, I wanted to keep things simple and not restrict myself to a rigid itinerary. The only event I planned in advance was to see Kanye West and Rihanna (as well as Lupe Fiasco and N*E*R*D) in San Jose. While there, I even ran into the legendary MC Hammer! Tickets were limited to singles at the time, so this incredible night never would have happened if I hadn’t been by myself.

Later, I went to San Diego and reconnected with an old friend I hadn’t seen in years. I had the freedom to hang out with her and her friends on the beach, then take off and explore everything the city had to offer whenever I pleased.

Watching the fiery sun meet the horizon over the Pacific Ocean one night, I realized traveling solo may not replace the experience of seeing the world with your loved ones, but it is an adventure all people should try at some point in their lives.

A New Way to Make Unforgettable Memories

solo-traveling

I know I’m not the only one who likes to travel alone. In fact, results from the 2015 Visa Global Travel Intentions Study  indicate a 15 percent uptick in overall solo travel since 2013, and for first-timers, it has increased from 16 percent to 37 percent.

In recognition of this growing market, many hospitality organizations offer new services aimed at wooing those who head out alone, such as solo-traveler guides and communal experiences at resorts.

Numerous logistical and demographic reasons help explain the newfound popularity of solo travel — including rising wages in the developing world and the Baby Boomers reaching retirement age. However, the most significant factor in the solo travel surge may be the most simple: More Americans than not are single for the first time in decades.

Endorsements and Caveats for the Solo Traveler

solo-traveler

Traveling alone can open up a world of possibilities. While it brings many potential benefits, these are just a few considerations to help you discover whether it’s right for you:

You prefer to set your own schedule at your own speed. Solo travel can offer you the independence you crave because you don’t have to cater to anyone else’s needs. This is especially appealing if your trip isn’t terribly long: You can do exactly what you want to do in the short time you have.

You want to increase your self-awareness through exploration and discovery. You will learn more about yourself on a solo trip than you ever thought possible, which, in turn, will boost your confidence. When you embrace the benefits of solitude, you become your own best friend.

You like to meet new, different kinds of people. If you never meet a stranger, solo travel might be the perfect way for you to connect with people from different walks of life.

You want to become a better traveler. Solo travel will train you to be a more curious observer of the world, and an expanded worldview lends itself to a more compassionate outlook on life.

But just like anything in this world, traveling alone is not for everyone. You may want to stick with a partner or group if the following conditions of solo travel are a significant concern:

You worry about what others will think. If the thought of seeing a movie alone induces a full-body cringe, exploring new places without someone to lean on might not be for you.

You’re worried about the dangers of traveling alone. It’s important to understand you won’t have a companion to fall back on. You need to be extremely self-sufficient to successfully travel alone because you open yourself up to risk when you’re by yourself.

You worry no one can really share the memories with you. “You just had to be there” might become your new favorite phrase after returning from a solo trip. An enlightening journey is deeply personal and, sometimes, lonely. If you’re not OK with that, reconsider solo travel.

For me, travel is an intrinsically personal journey. I love to see the world and all its wonders, and occasionally, I like to do it by myself. For your next trip, consider taking some time to reflect on yourself. Plan your itinerary exactly how you want to, and let your destination be your guide to enjoying new experiences that are possible only when you travel solo.

The Dos and Don’ts of a First Date for Men

They say first impressions are everything and that is especially true when it comes to dating. Maybe you have no problem landing a first date with women. However, if you’ve noticed that a follow up date never happens, then you most likely need our tips for a first date for men.

First dates are very telling. Women and men will assess whether they want to go out with this person again based on their mannerisms and etiquette on the first date.

To ensure that you get that second date, here are some do’s and don’ts for you.

Do have a plan

first-date-planned

If you ask a woman out on a date, then plan a date. I once had a friend who went on a date with a guy. As soon as he picked her up, he said, “Well, what do you want to do?” It caught her off guard and made her feel like he didn’t care enough about the date to plan anything. Have a plan for dinner or drinks, and then have a second plan for something afterward if you feel the night is going well.

Your date does not want to hear you go on and on (and on) about work, your ex, or your mother. Talk about yourself but also ask your date questions that will get her talking about herself. Joke around and have fun. Don’t get too serious too soon. You can usually get a pretty good vibe from one another through your interactions to know if a second date is in the cards.

Do be polite and thoughtful

This includes how you treat your date and the staff who take care of you while you’re on the date. Be kind to wait staff, movie attendants, valet parkers, etc. Don’t cut cars off or yell at a driver who didn’t signal before getting over.

Being rude and inconsiderate of others is a huge turnoff and will have your date counting down the seconds until the night is over. Remember that what men are attracted to is not that different from women.

Don’t try to over impress

great-conversation

First dates should be fun and fairly casual. Making reservations at a fancy and expensive restaurant for a first date gives off the impression that you’re trying too hard and puts more pressure than necessary on the date. Plus, it might make you have to live up to unrealistic expectations for subsequent dates. Try to plan something fun and casual like miniature golfing or a free concert in the park to help break the tension that sometimes comes with first dates.

Do avoid risky or controversial topics

Don’t bring up topics like politics, exes, sexual preferences or things of that nature. These can come across as crass and impolite. If there are things like these you want to discuss that are important to you, let the relationship gradually build before bringing up such heavier topics.

Don’t leave her wondering how the night went

If you think the date went well and you’d like to see her again, tell her! Something simple, such as, “I had a great time. I’d love to see you again” will suffice. Notice her reaction and if she seems interested. Then text her within a day or so to tell her something funny or interesting related to a topic the two of you were talking about. There’s no such thing anymore as a (waiting) three-day rule. If you like her, go for it!

The first purpose of dating is to meet new people and learn the qualities that are most important to you in a relationship. So look at it more as an exploration and less as a conquest. It will help you keep the right perspective as you go on your very first date.

Good luck!

7 Reasons It’s OK To Be Single

No matter how old you are, breakups are hard and life changing, even if they are little flings. It’s something that adds colour to our life, and sometimes it’s a dark colour when our relationship is coming to an end. But fear not! Being single is actually a lot of fun – when you’re not busy catching up with friends you can enjoy picking up new hobbies, learning new things, and reflecting on your life to improve your future. You always have to look on the bright side of things.

happy_single1. It’s time to get things done!

Look at this – you’re recently single and suddenly your schedule has a lot of empty space. Time to get all those things done that you’ve always wanted to get to. Take a private trip to Mexico, take pictures on the beach, meet people, date, go to bars, start jogging and exercising again, learn to write poetry…anything! You can do anything, all to yourself, without trying to make awkward plans with anyone else first. If you’ve always wanted to travel the world, now’s the time to do it. If you’ve ever wanted to learn something time consuming, now’s the time to do it. Get busy.

2. Be you first!

If you are in a relationship with someone that allows you to be yourself first and foremost, then you are one of the lucky ones. But to many many people, it’s just a dream. Many women and men are in relationships where they are forced to take on a new personality or adapt to new conditions because they feel forced into it. Maybe your spouse doesn’t allow you to enjoy astrology, or doesn’t approve of your “nights out” with the guys. Could be anything. If you’re single, now’s your time to do whatever you want! Recollect who you are, dig up your personality and expose it to the world in all gusto. Go for it! Show us who you are, and evolve that person even more.

3. Learn from your mistakes

If you’re single and coming from a relationship, chances are that something didn’t work out. Don’t start blaming her or him or you or it, or whoever – review what happened and identify your errors. You probably made some wrong moves and despite years of practicing living your life, it’s hard to admit that we can still make mistakes at it. But we do. Look at what mistakes you made and try harder not to do them again. You are not a bad person, you just said the wrong thing again. It’s not a big deal, because next time you finally won’t do it again, and you will feel better for succeeding yourself.

4. Living a zero drama life

No boyfriend, no problems. The only drama you can bring into your life now is the stuff you attract yourself. When you’re single, there’s no jealousy, lying, cheating, ex’s to deal with, parents, in-laws, nothing. Just you and the world, all the millions of people. Go out and interact on a different level and enjoy the freedom of peace of mind.

5. No more balancing emotions

Do you love her? Do you love him? Or don’t you? What’s an appropriate gift? Do you really like that habit of his? How will you feel next weekend? Say goodbye to all those issues in your new single life – the only emotions you need are your own. You feel exactly how you want, whenever you want, and don’t have to explain it to anyone. Brilliant! You’ll have peace of mind and heart. If you need attention or emotion, you can now date and experiment with others. If you need time alone, you have it. Perfect.

6. See your friends more often

Your friends always commented that they never saw you anymore when you were with that guy. You never made it to game nights anymore because you were spending too much time with her. When you’re single your friends can only complain about seeing you too much because you will have all the time in the world for them. Go out and have fun with them, enjoy gossip and comfort food and go on weekend trips with different people.

7. Someone else will come along

Maybe you’re just stuck hating everything because you’re single now. Well, let me end by assuring you that someone else will be coming along, at any time that is appropriate for it to happen. That’s how you met the last person, wasn’t it? You might be a little depressed now because your phone isn’t vibrating as much and you don’t have someone to cuddle with, but it’s all meant to be. Focus on all those fun things I mentioned up there instead, and enjoy the time you have to yourself.
