This medium-sized eagle is very similar in general appearance to its closest relative the lesser spotted eagle, which shares part of its range. Head and wing coverts are very dark brown and contrast with the generally medium brown plumage; the lesser spotted eagle has a paler head and wing coverts. The head is small for an eagle. The similarities of the greater spotted to the lesser spotted often results in misidentification as being that species. This is further complicated by occasional hybrids between the two species.

We had been watching the Wood Duck’s enjoying the morning on the pond when I noticed one that was all white or beige in color . It was swimming with a male wood duck and looked very similar in appearance except for the color of the feathers. After doing a little research I realized that I had been looking at a female leucistic duck. She was beautiful and I found it fascinating to see and watch her as she proudly followed her chosen mate.

While birding it feels very pleasant to have a perfect picture when the focus bird is in action or flying. This picture shows the beautiful features of the Bird Purple Heron. The front part is just like a wild snake and it looks that a combination of snake and bird is in action.
