A male orangutan waits at a feeding station at Camp Leakey in Tanjung Puting National Park in Central Kalimantan province, Indonesia. Deforestation is the primary threat to the orangutan, a species of great ape known for its intelligence. The United Nations predicts that orangutans will be virtually eliminated in the wild within two decades if current deforestation trends continue.

Stumpy the 29 year-old ring tailed lemur at home at the Five Sisters Zoo, West Lothian, Scotland. He is believed to be one of the oldest of his kind in the world and has celebrated his birthday this week. Stumpy turned 29 on Sunday and helped himself to a birthday cake and picnic with his five sons.
