June last year around 10 pm. Taking a walk along the Reykjavik coastline. Eider ducks taking a nap on a rock maybe like me, waiting for the sunset that will be around midnight. 

I love to be somewhere outside in the bright summer nights and as Reykjavik has a long coastline it´s easy to find a beautiful spot like this to hang around

Fjallabak highland route is a beautiful place to travel. Vast areas of lava and moss in between the mountains. Small green oases, hot springs and rivers, usually unbridged so you have to drive a 4wd jeep but very much worth the effort

it´s almost April so the northern lights season is soon over. 2-3 weeks from now it will simply be too bright during the night to see them. The days of the midnight sun are fast approaching here up north

Here we are earlier this winter when we had one of many beautiful northern lights displays. The golden light at the horizon are the city lights from Reykjavik

The majestic Dynjandi waterfall. The biggest waterfall in the Westfjords and some say the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland

Dynjandi looks like a bridal veil – on top it is 30 meters wide and widens up to 60 meters at the bottom It is said that a supernatural being lives in every waterfall I can agree with this, at least there is amazing energy by the waterfall

Landmannalaugar. Located in the South Highlands of Iceland, the area is renowned for its stunning beauty. The area is notable for its spectacular rock formations, multicolored rhyolite mountains and expansive lava fields. Many hot and cold springs create a bathing warm brook, where people bathe.

Landmannalaugar is a natural gem in the highlands of Iceland that I recommend every nature lover should visit

Gjáin Gorge is a great example of the contrasts of Icelandic nature. Amidst the old lava fields of the southern Highlands is this work of nature, beautiful waterfalls, columnar basalt rock, ponds and peaceful springs.

Few people except locals, know of this hidden gem which means you will get to enjoy the area mostly to yourself!

Gullfoss (The Golden Waterfall) is one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland. The water falls 105 feet (32 meters) in two steps into the canyon below. As you approach, you hear the falls before you see the wild, tumbling water as the river valley is a deep, dramatic crevasse. This canyon was created at the end of the Ice Age by catastrophic flood waves and is lengthened by 25 cm a year by the constant erosion.

It´s equally impressive in the winter, covered in ice and snow as it is in the summer

The modern Icelandic Sheep is a direct descendant of the sheep brought to the island by the early Viking settlers, in the ninth and tenth century and come in variety of other colors than white, including a range of browns, grays, and blacks.

It is a strong, hardy race which has adapted well to Icelandic conditions.

A few weeks after the lambing in May, sheep are sent to run free and graze in mountain pastures until autumn, feeding on the rich and nourishing vegetation. The also love the seaweed and these 4 were roaming the Snæfellsnes peninsula  on a beautiful september evening

Besides being a location of historical significance in Iceland over the ages, Þingvellir is also protected as a national park due to its unique geology and natural features. Here I am on a beautiful winter day looking over a frozen river with the setting sun in my face

Northern lights dancing over south Iceland. The sun has been super active this winter with solar flares hitting the earth on regular basis and that means wonderful northern lights display if the sky is clear
