First of all, it was utterly remarkable the way that these hills and ripples of silt seemed to have their own built-in topographical markings. Add on top of that the way the shiny smooth surface reflected a warm sunset and turned a neutral gray all manner of colors from orange to deep purple.

I was blown away, and I’ve never seen anything quite like it again!
