This past weekend I decided to go check out a place I have never been before called Watson Lake. Watson Lake is around 2 hours north of Phoenix and is is one of two reservoirs at the Granite Dells, outside of Prescott, Arizona, that was formed in the early 1900s when the Chino Valley Irrigation District built a dam on Granite Creek.
I am quickly becoming a fan of just driving around Arizona since I tend to turn on an audio book and zone out for a few hours. This drive was no different. With a good audio book on I headed North to go see what I could find.
When I got to the lake, I was amazed at how busy it was. Guess it makes sense being the end of summer and all. I was actually pretty upset since everywhere I looked, there were people climbing the rocks are swimming in the waters.
I actually had to wait a good amount of time to get this shot. There was a girl who decided to set up shop under this tree and write in her journal. I can’t blame her, this was one of the only calm places on the lake that day. Finally after and hour or so she decided to wonder off. As I was setting up to take this photo two young girls wondered into the frame. They had a selfie stick with them and proceeded to take selfies of them with the tree. So after another 30 minutes or so, they wondered off. I quickly snapped this shot for fear of someone decided to go to the tree and take a nap or something else random like that.
I tend to not post black and white photos on 500px but for some reason, this one just stands out better in B&W. This was really the only shot I got that day that I liked. Guess I just have to go back out there during the winter when it is a bit quieter.
