Still one of the favorite places I’ve ever seen… “The Subway” main emerald pool. Places are iconic for reasons, and as much you want to avoid the “classic” shots, you still have to see/capture it for yourself. This time main goal was to take a friend, and a colleague photographer (Greg Stokesbury, @ http://ift.tt/1CBGAUD) to see the Subway – their first time visiting. It was overcast most of the day, the sun peaked in for a few minutes at early afternoon, enough to see some “glow” at the walls. Thanks to all for the comments and support, I appreciate them all!

I was fascinated by the tortured landscape of cooled and hardened lava found in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, USA. It was clear that this area had been recently formed by the lava; in fact, I might have been the first person to have walked over this new landscape. Canon 5DSR, Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 lens, ISO 100, f/11, 1/4 second.
