Indiana Jones and Yoda Statues by www78 One of many small towns in the Mid-Marin area, San Anselmo is like the others quite wealthy but yet retains a small-town feel. Van Morrison once wrote a song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpcsThJEgWM “Snow in San Anselmo” about the first time in 30 years snow hit the town when he was living nearby.
However San Anselmo’s most famous resident was George Lucas, who used his profits from “American Graffiti” to purchase a Victorian in town. For the next two years he wrote the original “Star Wars” and screened the first cut with a group of friends including Alan Ladd, Jr., Steven Spielberg, Brian DePalma, and Martin Scorsese.
In 2013, George Lucas purchased a difficult-to-sell property near Town Hall and razed it, creating a public space “Imagination Park”. The centerpiece of the park is a fountain depicting two of Lucas’ most famous creations, Indiana Jones and Yoda. Both sculptures were created by Lawrence Noble.
