Summer Doldrums by Extra Medium In the middle of Summer I’m…

Summer Doldrums by Extra Medium In the middle of Summer I’m usually concentrating on Weddings, doing engagements, some high school seniors, and other miscellaneous shoots. Especially along the middle of the California Coast in the summer, June Gloom ruins any chance of a dramatic sunset. So only a few more months and we’ll get our Fall colors and hopefully dramatic sunsets back.

Tonight is the first day of Digital Photography classes at the local Park & Rec. There’s a beginner and advanced class, and in the case you want to hear me go into belligerent tirades over such topics as trespassing, over-editing, Nikon/Canon, use of light and stay-at-home-mommy photographers undermining the business, feel free to sign up. Oh yeah, there’s also some learning too.

Wadi Rum, waiting for sunset. by ania115 Wadi Rum is a protected area covering 720 square kilometers of dramatic desert wilderness in the south of Jordan. Huge mountains of sandstone and granite emerge, sheer-sided, from wide sandy valleys to reach heights of 1700 meters and more.
Bedouin tribes still live among the mountains of Rum.
Local people gained notoriety more recently when they joined the arab revolt forces under the leadership of king Faisal and fought along with Lawrence of Arabia during the Arab Revolt (1917/18) to fight the occupying Turkish and German armies.

Hillefjord Stavanger Rogaland Norway 19th April 2011 by loose_grip_99 I was cycling to work alongside the fjord when this view showed itself. Actually it didn’t exactly because in reality it wasn’t as impressive as this. I used my mobile phone camera which did a great job of making it more dramatic. http://flic.kr/p/9Aq3nT

As much as I love the drama of a Black and White shot, the vibrance of colour in the Highlands is also spectacular.
One hell of a view from the back room window on this property. http://flic.kr/p/vzg6AY

Amarapura Sunset by Waldemar* Amarapura, Mandalay Region, Burma (Myanmar)

Sunsets in Burma are simply unbelievable. The constantly present haze nicely diffuses the light and the dramatic colors of the sunset.

The 1.2 km (0.75 mile) U Bein Bridge spanning across Lake Taungthaman in Amarapura is the longest teakwood bridge in the world. A large part of the lake is almost dry during the dry season. The dry areas are used by the local people for agriculture.

The Remains of The Day by Gary D Nobody Fuck Christmas, I’ll sit here with my Cider and reminisce about the awesomely shitty year 🙂

This was taken when me and a group of friends went to Thrope Park, had a long travel up ,awesome afternoon riding the rides (side note: Fuck you SAW: The Ride) then we got pretty drunk in the hotel bar. After dragging our very tired and drunken driver to bed me and Simon sat outside watching the beautiful sunset and photographing of course. http://flic.kr/p/ihhJ27

The Broken Link by Mohanram Sathyanarayanan Having seen so many…

The Broken Link by Mohanram Sathyanarayanan Having seen so many pictures of this quite unique landscape, I decided to make a solo trip to the “broken hill” which is hardly 15 minutes from my house.

I was indeed shocked by how dramatic the landscape appeared in person and photos don’t really do any justice. It is one of the most fragile landscapes I have ever seen, with sand carved by flowing water. I took care not to damage the delicate setting.

This particular picture is a blend of 2 pictures taken 30-40 minutes apart from last light to night fall in an effort to add the faintly flowing stars to the background. http://flic.kr/p/pbxRvF
