Tiles of Earth by SteveSieren

Dried and cracked mud in a wash in Death Valley.

In a place so know for it’s dryness, the evidence of water is everywhere. Death Valley if full of similar scenes like this in so many different locations. The three pieces were slightly elevated more then the rest of them so they caught my eye.

The Haunted Wood by AndyFarrer

Wistman’s Wood on Dartmoor is an ancient oak wood steeped in legend. It’s said to be haunted and that it is a sacred Druid’s grove where Pagan rituals were held. Other stories tell of huge black dogs with red eyes, yellow teeth and a hunger for human flesh and souls and that the moss coloured boulders are home to large numbers of adders which have an especially venomous bite. While I didn’t witness any of those, I am certainly guilty of letting my imagination run away with itself and get a bit jumpy when the rain dripped down my neck from the branches!

Wintry Spring by stiann

Seen here is a cabin in in the middle of the Hardangervidda National Park, the largest NP in Norway. Even though the image was captured only a couple of days ago, in the midst of spring, we had temperatures as low as -19C/-2F. Stayed at this remote location as part of a 90 kilometer round-trip by ski. By day the sun would melt the top layer of the snow, which would then refreeze during night. Add some gale force winds to the mix and it makes for some interesting snow textures. Captured at early dawn, the cold mist in front of the rising sun made for some nice pastels.

Thanks for viewing, any feedback appreciated!

Cretaceous Temple by projas

I’ll update the description when I have the time, but for now, if you’re interested, you can watch a short youtube video I pieced together from our trip here last year here. It’s not much, but just some scouting in the desert and other shenanigans by my friends, David Thompson and Miles Morgan, and myself, along with a meeting with a truly inspiring photographer, Cecil Whitt.
