Delphinium… or more popularly known as Larkspur. As you can see, here in this variety, the buds are white, the flowers a very pale blue.
All parts of the plant contain an alkaloid delphinine and are very poisonous! All parts of the plant are poisonous… yet like so many plants… in small amounts, extracts of the plant have been used in herbal medicine.
Blue flowers, true blue or purple not so common in the flower world and in my personal experience, are some of the (if not THE…) most difficult to light correctly, so that you keep the original tonality…
