This was taken on a visit to the Rockies last Summer. In between bouts of heavy greyness and heavier precipitation the clouds would break and dance around the mountains. On rare occasions Assiniboine herself would peak through to assess her meager audience before turning over and hiding under the blankets again. The rain never actually stopped, but the wind would, making for these very unique conditions. I remember fellow photographer Mark Brodkin working beside me saying to himself, ‘yup, this is pretty special.’
I owe a huge thanks to Ryan Dyar for showing me how to make this image sing. My imagination kept bumping into walls trying to work with this. This one’s for you buddy.

One more from last spring at Steptoe Butte/Palouse region of Washington State. Thought the dust trail added a fun element juxtaposed with some pretty awesome rolling hills/lights & shadows. I’m off to the Southwest (Moab, Canyonlands, Monument Valley, Page, Sedona, etc. for a few days (my first visit,… so I’m hopeful I can do it justice and come back with at least a few decent shots to share)! As always, many thanks for viewing, voting and/or any constructive comments!
