Pietrapertosa is an Italian town of 1,063 inhabitants in the province of Potenza. average altitude of 1,088 meters s.l.m. place, is the highest town in Basilicata. Located on the border with the province of Matera, its position corresponds exactly to the geographical center of the Region.
Its territory, together with the territories of neighboring countries, as the Park of the Lucanian Dolomites mountain range sandstone bare rock, so called because the conformation only rocky mountain, which his houses are literally clinging, resembles that of the Alps ( although the geological nature is completely different). In addition, the same way as the Dolomites of Italy and Cortina, the Pietrapertosa rocks often take at sunset the characteristic pink color. Hope you like it.

Giving this one some light of day with 500px’s pano tiling! Amazing light from behind, anticrepuscular rays, couldn’t have asked for me except that I was in the wrong spot until the last minute for this one . I suspect this is one of our most recognisable shots for those in Australia (media had published it following the 2013 panorama competition) but maybe not internationally?
I figured, might as well put up a favourite for the 300th picture on this platform !
