(NOT HORSESHOE BEND)

There is almost nothing I enjoy more than adventuring out to shoot new angles on more original gooseneck bends in the great Southwest (and there many). This one is about 1500 feet (460 meters) straight down. I took a big risk to get this shot, 4 wheel driving in about an hour, then hiking several miles, as a huge thunderstorm was heading in. I photographed for about 10 minutes, then with fearsome rumbling in the far distance, I literally ran all the way back to my vehicle and barely sped out of the area as Armageddon descended on me. 🙂

Ocean by kahkityoong by kahkityoong

This is Skagsanden beach which is famous among photographers for its large tidal pools, sand patterns and view of the mountains. But on this occasion I came to shoot some portraits with dramatic weather in the background. Afterwards I made this photo ignoring all the usual photogenic points of the beach because I wanted something more simple and anonymous, just the ocean with some brooding weather.
