D’SCENE MAGAZINE #02 IS OUT NOW – DISCOVER THE NEW ISSUE

001b

Welcome to the new issue of D’SCENE! After more than seven years of existing as an online magazine Design Scene‘s transition into its print domain D’SCENE with all its challenges seems to be complete. When it comes to top model names D’SCENE magazine’s latest edition is our strongest yet. However in the process Brave New World came up on its own as the theme of the issue for many reasons.

001

The latest issue features two covers, one starring supermodel Harvey Newton-Heydon (Next London) photographed in London by Sevda Albers with styling from our Fashion Editor Christopher Maul. The other was captured in New York with a team of top model boys lensed by Jared Bautista with styling from Rima Chahine.

D’SCENE 02 IS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE IN PRINT IN DIGITAL – GET YOUR COPY

For us it was a different kind of adventure to organize womenswear editorials for print. The girls are now not only making an appearance in a men’s story, instead three of the sessions are dedicated to womenswear only and are headlined by some of the most sought after faces on the scene.

bjornb (1) http://ift.tt/1JM2U1m

Björn Borg name as a legendary tennis player may not be as familiar to younger generations, however his eye-catching line is one of the most known in its niche. The label recognized for its colorful undies has in recent seasons revolutionized the way fashion industry approaches promoting a collection. Their last season’s runway featuring models clad in special masks was one of the most talked about in the social media, today their creatives have released a unique fashion campaign approach.

The spring summer 2015 collection campaign is actually a part of a very interactive online fashion game. Not just a fad, the creators of the campaign turned to the gaming world to create and then rate their game. The reviews were more than welcoming, Kotaku one of the biggest gaming web pages on the globe has described the First Person Lover  game as “one of the most fabulous things I’ve ever seen”. Felix ”Pewdiepie” Kjellberg one of the biggest YouTuber’s on the globe called the came “The most fabulous game in the universe“.

Saint Laurent Fall Winter 2015.16 Collection

Saint Laurenthttp://ift.tt/1CxYr1r

Hedi Slimane with Saint Laurent fall winter 2015 runway show masterfully connected Paris and Music as the focal point of his latest designs. The Paris Sessions collection gives the upcoming season’s designs an undeniable rock edge. The same comes with an instantaneously timeless vibe. The fashion houses have long seized the use of ‘investment piece‘ term in their collection notes, pretending the recession days are long gone. However many of the luxury fashion names are still standing thanks to that exact terminology. You know a piece like a leather jacket from Saint Laurent collection is there to stand more than a season. Reasonably enough it is the right investment for your wardrobe.

With the Saint Laurent style ultimately changing under the stamp of Hedi Slimane, the designer morphed his signature pieces into the new season as well. A showstopping leather jacket, and a pair of tight black (leather) trousers are a must. While the rock sentiment of the show immediately implied evening-wear, in addition to girls joining the runway making it a night-out occassion, decomposing the styling can bring different results. Zipper taken leather pants might not be the best office outfit, however an elegant beige or black coat is certainly ready for a formal and many other outings.

Womenswear sharing the spotlight during Paris Fashion Week’s menswear ready to wear time slot, certainly emphasizes the androgynous aspect of the line. Moreso connected with the men’s pieces sent down the catwalk. At the same time it leaves us wondering where will the full runway presentation of the women’s show take us by the days of the upcoming PFW.

After the video above discover more than sixty new Saint Laurent looks:

Paul Smith Fall Winter 2015.16 Collection

Paul Smith

Legendary British designer Paul Smith redesign colour-blocking in a subtle yet inspiring manner for the Fall Winter season. The designer has presented his latest men’s collection during the recently wrapped Paris Fashion Week. The colour gradient masterfully gives an edgy yet elegant look to the collection, allowing the pieces to grab a youthful appeal.

For autumn/winter 2015, Paul Smith glances back to an early catwalk show he held in Paris’s Andrée Putman gallery which saw an innovative use of colourful tailoring set against an austere concrete backdrop. Now presenting a confident and contemporary reinterpretation; tonal suits have an updated feel with exaggerated shoulders and high waists but are consistently wearable.
Colours are influenced by artistic adventurers Josef and Anni Albers. References come both from their work and their travels through Mexico; muted tones of oatmeal, grey and light peach sit beside more sun-drenched hues of orange and green. – from Paul Smith

Doutzen Kroes for WSJ Magazine by Josh Olins

Doutzen Kroes

Supermodel Doutzen Kroes takes the cover of WSJ Magazine‘s March 2014 Spring Fashion edition lensed by fashion photographer Josh Olins. For Easy Like Sunday Morning Dutch stunner was styled by Alastair McKimm in pieces from the likes of Chloé, Boss, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Roberto Cavalli, Proenza Schouler, Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane, Lanvin, Balamain, and Donna Karan.  In charge of hair styling was Esther Langham with makeup by Sally Branka, and manicure by Michina Koide. Prop styling by Max Bellhouse Studio.

I wanted to become a teacher like my mother, or a charity worker. But my mom says that when I was younger I told her, People are going to know me, so I guess I always had that idea. We didn’t have fashion magazines around the house, so I would see someone like Jennifer Lopez’s CD covers and think, I would love to have hair or makeup like that. I secretly sent my pictures to a modeling agency in Amsterdam, and they sent me to New York. I lived in an apartment for models in the Meatpacking District, which back then was a place filled with all sorts of people that you couldn’t even look in the eye. I wasn’t booking jobs, and I was very lonely.” – Doutzen said to WSJ Magazine about the beginnings of her career.
