The entire day was almost continuous snowfall and winds until this point; when just as the sun had nearly reached the horizon itself, it broke through and revealed the top of Mount Inglemaldie nearly a vertical mile above the crashing surf. It was a moment of rare and beautiful light that rivaled any attempt at photographing it, but still I was able to make an image I felt captured at least something of the energy of the moment. The surf and frozen lakeshore formations added to the scene, though I feel restricted in this small viewing format to show you the luminescent glow of the pile of ice crystals in the center here. The next morning, a quarter mile of this lakeshore had frozen solid in -30C temps, and calm will return for the winter.

The shot here is primarily just a SINGLE exposure processed only one time from RAW, however, DOF stacking was used to render sharp the immediate foreground areas which were less than 10cm from my lens. Here’s a companion photograph to go with my other Abraham Lake you see at Lake Abraham. Ice abstracts are nothing new so I wanted to combine the ice with an additional element to make it more interesting. I waited for some warm light to fall upon the frozen lake. On the last day of the trip we came to about this Family we spent 4-5 hrs to see these little once, since the cubs were less than 30 days old very hard to locate them as the mommy was hiding them & was sitting on a diff place & thr was guards also to protect them from too much disturbance.
But finally the guards agreed & gave only 2-3 min to see & come back.
The siting was really beautiful as soon the cubs heard the jeep noise they stopped playing & sat down to give pose as they knew we gonna take photos of them 😛
