Barnafossar…The Childrens Waterfall. by Nobby1968 Western Iceland. Barnafoss is located on the Hvita river, a glacial force running out of the lava fields. Legend has it that there was an arch over the river, one day, two local boys fell into the river and were swept away. The mother ordered the arch to be demolished in her anguish.

When we arrived at the beach i had been shooting for few hours and I discovered to my horror that my battery had run out and my thee extra batteries were empty! I shomehow assumed the were full and did not check them before driving off.
We spent about an hour there and I was able to squeeze five exposures out of my camera by warming a battery (put it inside my parka) for 10-15 minutes and then quickly turn the camera on an shoot and the the exposure finished before the battery. Pretty nerve wrecking and frustrating but most of the frames actually are good. 🙂 http://flic.kr/p/AtWGnp
This winter was the best one, we northern lights lovers have had for some years now and I hope that will continue for many winters to come.
I live here and I can go out and try to catch some lights almost any time I like and after all these years I still can´t get enough of this amazing phenomenon

when the glacier returns to the Sea by lunaryuna Joekulsarlon glacier bay where ice floes of the Svinafellsjoekull glacier end up being washed into the North Atlantic and the ocean with its surf returning them to that black volcanic beach.
