John Lennon Tribute 8. December by Harpa Hrund I went out last night with my camera and it was freezing cold. I was hoping for some northern lights but it was a bit too cloudy for that. Still it is possible to see a bit of the lights through the clouds.
Today there are 30 years since John Lennon died, and this photo shows the Imagine Peace Tower (in Icelandic: Friðarsúla or the tower of peace). It is a memorial to John Lennon from his widow, Yoko Ono and is located on Viðey Island near Reykjavík, Iceland and consists of a tall “tower of light”. http://flic.kr/p/8ZksyF

Located just around the corner from the popular Skógafoss, Kvernufoss is defintely a hidden gem in the area and most likely you will be the only people back there.
You can even walk all way way behind the waterfall for an even more amazing view
Bauja by Sushanta – paper, scissors, void Viðey séð frá Sæbraut or Viðey seen from Sæbraut or “Isle of By” seen from “Sea lane”. “By” meaning “along”. “Við” can also mean of wood, but since there isn’t any wood on it (there might have been in the past) I’m sticking to “By”, as in the isle along Reykjavik or something. “Við” also means “Us” but the “Isle of Us” seems like nonsense. http://flic.kr/p/XHCLQ
svartifoss by Noam Mai not the most powerfull waterfall in iceland, but definitely a very unique one, due the hexagon shape of the rock that surrunds him

Skógafoss is one of the most popular tourist destinations along the south coast of Iceland. If you are travelling that way in July/August my advice is to get there either between 8-9 o’clock in the morning or later at night after 21 or 22h.
You’ll still have more than enough daylight at the time to enjoy the view and less people around
