9 Serious Signs You’re Next To Be Fired

“I mean there is no arguing. There is no anything. There is no beating around the bush. You are fired is a very strong term.” ~ Donald Trump

I just can’t imagine waking up lively one Monday morning, doing everything like usual, only to be told that I was being fired. I’m sure you can’t imagine this scenario too. But the truth is, it can really happen and it has happened to employees who were fired unawares.

Even when bosses are not verbalizing it, there are certain signs when the company is getting ready to let go of its employees. The earlier you give meaning to these signs, the better. This will give you time to adjust your behavior to suit the boss, or you can begin to hunt for another job and leave the company honorably.

Below are nine signs you will be fired next:

1. Your boss avoids you

Your boss begins to avoid you. Your boss cuts off any discussion that has to do with you and you start noticing that your employer’s face changes whenever you’re around.

2. Delay or reduction in your salary

A delay or reduction in your salary might happen as a result of three factors.

The first is that your company is in debt. The second is that you are being disciplined for a misbehavior, and the third is that you will be pushed out of the company soon.

Whichever the case, none of them is a good sign. If it is the first, Human Resources would be looking to decrease workers and if you did not receive your salary, this is a definite sign that your job is in peril. And if it is the second, you are definitely getting in the shortlist for your misconduct. HR can file it as an excuse for cutting short your contract with the company. And finally, if it is the third, the company simply has no use for your services anymore.

It’s simple. You will be fired.

3. Your company was sold out or merged

One of the most painful developments in a company is when a company is sold or merged and there are layoffs.  Employees simply have no control over this.

Once this happens, the board would definitely be shuffled. The new management would definitely have new plans for the company and there is likely to be a replacement.

Begin your job search right away!

4. You are left out of the loop

exclusion-at-work

If you used to get information early and was privvy to confidential information, and this suddenly changes, this is a huge red flag. If you’re suddenly out of the loop, know nothing about company updates, and even being excluded from work seminars, you don’t need to be told that there is a secretary somewhere typing up your sack letter.

5. Your immediate boss just got fired or left the company for good

If a senior staff who is close to you or your immediate boss gets fired or suddenly leaves, you’ve got to be really careful and stay aware. It’s even more defined if the person who just left or just got fired was the gateway to your appointment with the company.

And when you get a new boss, your new employer will either work with you or have somebody in mind as your replacement.

6. You are given less responsibilities

It’s a bad sign when the tasks and responsibilities normally assigned to you peter out. After all, employees with the most crucial responsibilities and achievements are the most stable in the company and are likeliest to be promoted. On the other hand, workers with less responsibilities are more dispensible and closer to the firing line.

7. You’re being excused from your office more than once

This is one of the most common signs. Your company is expecting a business partner or a guest, and the guest must be offered an office for the couple of weeks he is to spend with your company.

If management is readily taking your office or workspace, you’ll have to stay on your toes. If this happens more often than not, you’ll have to watch out. The next offer might be a sack!

8. Everything you do displeases your boss

angry-boss

Everything you do, anyhow you do it, and anywhere you do it in the company, your boss always finds fault with you. Your employer might even begin to berate you for illogical or trivial matters.

9. You are being given awkward assignments with no support or likelihoods of success

If your boss or company is setting you up for failure rather than success, this is one definite red flag. This sign is one of the most common and it is commonly displayed by wicked bosses.

“Giving you an awkward assignment without a support or likelihood of success is like sending you to the war front with no arm or aid.”

When bosses are tired of an employee, one of their tactics of filing the employee’s exit is by presenting the employee as incapable and the quickest way to do that is by assigning the employee an impossible task and withdrawing all support. Once you begin to see this sign; watch out for the tap.

In conclusion

If you are seeing two or more signs discussed above, you might be facing a serious and daunting challenge at work. The best that can be done in this situation is to continue to do your best at work while starting your job hunt.

Best Regards,

Daniel

Why My Cat Proves That Everyone is a Psychopath

At this very moment, my cat is slowly going insane.

And so are you.

Allow me to explain…

A couple months back, we rescued a young blind cat. Yay for us, right? Doing our small part to mock the circle of life and turn nature inside out. Al Gore would be proud.

What we didn’t anticipate was that this cat was pregnant and would soon give birth to a litter of kittens. Turns out we signed up for more than we bargained for.

Unfortunately, this brand-new mamma cat didn’t know how to take care of all her baby cats and so they all died. Except for one. The runt of the litter. Of course.

And to make things even more cliché, the sole survivor was a white kitten with blue eyes and it was so cute and just absolutely perfect. I wanted to barf. I thought creatures like that only existed in Disney movies.

But for one reason or another (definitely NOT the blue eyes) we decided to keep it and name him “Beau”. Adorable, right?

Fast forward a couple of months.

Beau is an indoor cat and has never set a foot outside in his entire life. But he’s also very adventurous. And (wait for it), curious. He’s constantly trying to escape out the front door and into the great unknown.

Every time someone opens a door, there are yells of “cat!” and several young children dog-pile (cat-pile?) on Beau to stop him from escaping with only inches to spare.

And it’s getting kind of annoying. Too much effort is being invested on keeping an animal inside. Animals aren’t supposed to be inside anyways. Houses are for people, right? Not cats. So yesterday an executive decision was made.

From now on, Beau will be an outside cat. We’ll grant him his deepest wish, set him free, and never let him back inside again.

And now Beau hates our guts.

We set him free yesterday morning, and of course he instantly dashed away and ran around the corner and disappeared. Having the time of his life, no doubt. He was finally outside! He had achieved his most important (and probably only) goal. He was free.

cat-freedom

Several hours later, he showed up in the front yard again. Meowing loudly. Clawing at the front door. Begging to come back inside. But the decision had already been made. Beau was no longer permitted to come in the house. Not under any circumstances.

But I guess Beau didn’t receive the memo.

He clawed at our door and cried his little lungs out for several hours straight. When that didn’t amount to anything, he started jumping up on window sills and clawing through our screens to get inside. We seriously went through several hundred dollars of window screens in under an hour. All because of this one stupid, annoying, psychotic cat.

But it got me thinking. Maybe I shouldn’t be so annoyed. Because I do the same exact thing every day.

I’ll set a goal. I’ll want this thing more than anything else. And I’ll work my butt off to get this thing, whatever it is. And eventually…I’ll get it. I’ll achieve my goal. I’ll have what I want.

For a little while.

And then I don’t want that thing so much anymore. It doesn’t seem as important as it did when I didn’t have it. It just…meh. Boring. Old. Useless.

And so I’ll set my sights on a new goal. This NEXT “thing” will be awesome. It’ll totally make me happier than anything else ever could. I NEED this thing.

And eventually I’ll get that thing but it doesn’t make me any happier. And so I move onto the next thing. And the next. And the next.

It’s so dumb. I’ll romanticize something in my mind, but when I get that “something” I won’t be happy with it. The grass is always greener, right? And I do this with everything. Physical possessions. Financial goals. Relationships. Everything.

And this is confusing to me.

Because on the one hand, it makes me think that maybe I should just stop trying to pursue all of these different things if they won’t make me happier. Maybe I should just learn to be happy with what I have. Maybe I already have everything I need to be happy. Maybe I don’t need anything else. Maybe I should convince myself that the grass is NEVER greener on the other side. That I should just enjoy what I already have.

See Also: 10 Things You Should Know About Creating Your Happiness

But also, on the other hand, maybe thinking that way is super dangerous. Because as a species, we’re hardwired to be progressive. It’s why we are where we are today. Because we’re never content with what we have. If we didn’t feel the need to have anything more, we’d still be living like cavemen. I wouldn’t be typing these words on my computer right now.

But on the other, other hand…

Ugh.

For the longest time, this question completely puzzled me. I kept going back and forth.

Should I learn to be happy with what I have, or should I continue to chase the “next thing”?

There are some very serious pros and cons to both options.

Eventually I came to the conclusion that neither option is the “right” one. Instead, I think there’s a middle ground. A balance that’ll leave everyone happy.

I decided to stop setting big goals. I’m not going to hinge my happiness on being successful in the future. Because success only equals temporary happiness anyways. I’ve seen this over and over in my own life. And my cat proves this as well. Success only provides short-term happiness.

balance-success

But at the same time, it’s important to be successful. It’s important to make progress and improve and achieve new things. That’s what makes me human.

So rather than put all of my attention towards being successful, I’m going to focus on progressing.

I don’t care anymore whether or not I’m successful. It used to be important to me that every single one of my books was a #1 bestseller. And that every relationship I was in was super amazing and everyone loved me. And that I was totally ripped and had a 6-pack and everything.

Those things don’t matter to me anymore.

What DOES matter is that I write every day. And that I compliment everyone I talk to. And that I work out every day.

I don’t hinge my happiness on the end result. Instead, I’m happy when I make a little bit of progress and improve just 1% each day. That way I get the best of both worlds. Because if I’m improving each day, eventually I’ll be successful. But I don’t have to wait until “eventually” to be happy and proud of myself. I can be happy with what I’ve accomplished each and every single day.

To help me implement this theory of “progression over success”, I created a checklist with a couple of small, mini-goals that I try to complete every day. Just simple, small things I can do that’ll take a couple of minutes at most. Things that will help me progress and improve 1% in each area of life. (Mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, financial, and social.)

When I complete these mini-goals, my life is awesome. I feel great. Because I know that I’ve made progress. I’m a slightly better person than I was yesterday.

Maybe I’m not super successful at everything. Maybe I don’t sell quite as many books as I used to when I was working my butt off every day in a desperate race against myself. Maybe I’m not learning nearly as much as when I used to read 500 pages a day. Maybe I’m not as popular among my peers as I used to be when that really mattered to me.

But I’m happy.

I’ve found a balance that works very well for me. And I think in the long-term, I’ll be even more successful than I would be any other way. Because I’m constantly progressing. I’m always getting better and becoming more successful. Slowly but surely.

Even if I only improve 1% a day…every 3 months my life will have improved nearly 100%.

Funnily enough, I created my first mini-goal checklist almost 3 months ago, exactly. And I can honestly say that I’m 100% happier than I was 100 days ago. My life is so much better. My friends and family have noticed a big change in me, and my overall attitude towards life.

And unlike my cat, I can’t wait to see what the next 3 months bring.

9 Ways How To Earn Money Online

There are numerous legitimate ways a person can earn real money online. Whether it is for rent, paying bills or simply for spending, all of us could use extra income from time to time.

When the topic of earning online comes up, the first thing that comes to people’s minds are often the “get rich fast” deals. These are all scams, and anyone who thinks they can earn a top dollar fast by clicking on an ad has another thing coming.

Making a living over the internet is the same as doing it in real life — it requires dedication, perseverance and a lot of hard work. But don’t be deterred, as there are realistic and proven ways for those who are prepared to invest their time and effort to earn money using their computer and internet connection.

Here are nine ways you can start making money online.

1.      E-book writing

The e-book market has exploded over the past couple of years. If you have some knowledge about a specific subject, you can try writing special reports and e-books that customers can download directly onto their computer or mobile device.

Writing and selling a traditional book requires funds for printing, production, and marketing, whereas a simple text document can easily be converted into a PDF file. Have in mind that book writing is a painstaking and time-consuming process which has the potential to earn well if done right.

People can teach and be taught in the comfort of their room and avoid the stress of having to commute or work for a company.

4.      Making and selling products online

You can sell a product directly from your website or a store using classifieds and community websites. But just like traditional sales, you need to have a product which is needed by the consumer and at the same time better than what someone else is offering.

If you like creating interesting things and you think that there is a market for them, physical commerce is just the right thing for you.

5.      Selling on eBay

People associate making money online with digital products and affiliate marketing. But, the oldest trick in the book for making quick cash is selling the stuff you own but have no use of.

There are individuals who make selling products on eBay a full-time job and can even afford a vacation with it. So instead of just letting your old items get even older in storage, you can get some extra bucks by selling them via eBay.

6.      Selling stock photos

This is one the easiest jobs on the list as it only requires having a functioning camera. Stock photos are in high demand, as businesses, publishers and media outlets use them for websites and marketing campaigns.

7.      Webinars and video tutorials

As more and more people are using the internet, many of them find themselves lacking the necessary knowledge on a certain subject. This is where webinars and video tutorials come into play.

With the technology available today, even the most technologically challenged individuals have the opportunity to create extraordinary multi-media seminars which an average person can simply download to their desired device. With new and emerging technologies, people need educational classes designed to cater to their individual needs more than ever.

8.      Affiliate advertising

Affiliate advertising is a monetization practice often used for websites and blogs. The easiest way to monetize your blog is by using network services such as Clickbank.

Affiliate advertising is a system based on performance which means that you don’t earn any money unless the visitor actually clicks on your link and makes an actual purchase. This is why SEO is important as it drives traffic which, in turn, leads to more potential clicks.

There are many serious agencies which can help you out unless you already have some serious knowledge on the matter.

9.      Creating a YouTube channel

create-a-youtube-channel

YouTube’s popularity can be measured by the sheer number of unique views a popular video gets. We’re talking millions and millions of views, and in some cases, that number can be as high as hundreds of millions.

Apart from views, a popular YouTube account can have subscribers in the millions. All you need to do is sign up for a YouTube partner program and upload quality, advertiser-friendly content.

Conclusion

Whether you’re looking for extra income or trying to make it as a full-time job, the internet is packed with of possibilities. Try new and different lines of work until you find the one you are most satisfied with. You may not make any money overnight, but with hard work and dedication, your efforts will most certainly pay off.

5 Tips And Tricks To Rock Your Halloween Wig

Wigs are a great way to transform your look! They are quick, easy and, as an added bonus, only temporary.

The right wig can transform you from Snow White to Cinderella in the blink of a wand. Or, you can be your favorite movie or book character.

Men, want to return to the days when your hair was worthy of being in a hair band? Then let’s get wiggy with it!

1. Be comfortable wearing your wig

halloween-wig-costume

Wigs are user-friendly and easy to wear. So, whether you want to give someone a shock or a scare, here is some info to get you comfortable wigging out.

Tip: When purchasing a wig for a costume, grab a stocking cap. A stocking cap is a nylon cap designed to keep your own hair in place and add a buffering layer between you and the wig making it more comfortable.

The typical price range for a wig is between .99 cents to $1.29.

Trick: Don’t let wigs give you the slip. For added security, add a few bobby pins on either side of your ears. Place them through the wig into the cap, crossing them in an x shape.

2. Wear it straight out of the bag

Most costume wigs can be worn, with a little fluffing, straight out of the bag.

Tip: Take the wig out of the bag, turn it upside down and give it a firm shake. Allowing the fibers a little “hang time” can help with any misshaping that occurs in storage.

Be careful when handling a synthetic wig though. If you handle it for too long, it can tangle easily.

Trick: Got tangles? Fear knot! Take a wide tooth comb and run it through the wig to loosen any tangles. A little moisture spray can work wonders to help remove knots that can occur from over handling.

3. Fix your wig to add volume

Tip: If you want added drama (and who doesn’t?), you can tease the wig at the base. Teasing the wig at the base will add a little lift. To keep the effect, add some hair spray for hold.

Trick: Not a tease? You can add volume by doubling up. Try stacking two wigs, one on top of the other. This works best for cury wigs.

Additionally, try a sock! You can stuff a clean sock in the wigs under side cap area. Fold the wig in half, hiding the sock, to create a dramatic fall for your hair.

Use bobby pins to secure the edges at the crown or top of your head. You will be using your own hair for the front and the wig at the back. Use a head band or ribbon to create a seamless look.

4. Check out these hair-thinning tips

A thinner wig or stocking cap can offer shear perfection without cutting a single hair.

Tip: For this particular look, make sure you minimize your own hair as much as possible. Braid or wrap your hair around your head as close and smooth to your head as possible, then put it under a stocking cap. You can double up on the stocking cap if you have a lot of hair.

Trick: Going bald? Try a stocking cap. Choose one that is close to your flesh tone. Place the stocking cap over your hair.

If you just want to be bald on top and have hair on the sides, then put the stocking cap on and add beard or mustache hair found online or at costume shops. Using a hair safe adhesive like spirit gum, attach the beard hair around the base of the stocking cap. Do this on a foam head form (also found at the wig or costume shop) and place wax paper or aluminum foil on the base of the head for easier removal. Allow for plenty of drying time.

On a budget? You can use cotton balls to make hair where you want it on the stocking cap.

5. Experiment with colors

colored-costume-wigs

Coloring your hair in a salon takes time, effort, and money. Wigs, on the other hand, come in a rainbow of colors.

Tip: Not seeing what you want? Start with a white wig and use color spray to create your desired of color. Use a spray safe for hair and always spray in a well ventilated area.

Caution: your temporary color will sweat when you do so keep it off clothes and furniture you care about.

Trick: Feeling less patient than Picasso? Then grab a wig in the base color you desire and some clip-in color hair sold on thin tracks in wig stores and costume shops. It’s quick, easy and less messy.

Bonus Trick: Go Hilary or Donald!

Costume Treat!

Consider the scariest costume of all — the candidate coiffure. If you are looking to go as your favorite or most feared potential POTUS, here are some tip for finding the perfect wig.

For Hilary: This look will be a little spendy.

Look for a lace front wig where you can wear your hair off your face. Make sure it has a monofilament top so you will have a believable part and multidimensional colors. This wig, well-groomed, would be either human hair or synthetic and could be anywhere from the $200 to $500 dollar range.

For Donald: You can get this look on the cheap.

Look for a wefted wig, a wig where the top usually has a pre-teased base to hide the construction. You will want a solid color wig and will likely be a synthetic wig.

To find the signature Donald Trump volume, you may need to look for a women’s wig in Large. Use a teasing comb to dishevel the top and you too can look like a billionaire for just $40!

I hope you have a hair raising Happy Halloween!

Are You Your Own Best Friend Or Your Own Worst Enemy?

Most of us know by now how important self-love is for our emotional health and physical/mental wellbeing.

We’re often bombarded with an avalanche of books, videos, seminars and workshops discussing the importance of loving ourselves. But, while most of us understand the concept of how self-love works, realistically, how much do we truly practice it?

The fact is, we live extremely busy lives and are constantly under pressure these days. We’ve become accustomed to juggling the incessant demands of our work, family, social and personal lives.

We spend an hour or two at the gym, meditate and practice yoga, convincing ourselves we are ‘on’ it. Meanwhile for the other 22 – 23 hours, we run around like headless chickens caught in a never-ending cycle of pressure and stress.

Over committing, over-working, over-giving – over stimulated. It’s not our fault – it’s the way life these days has evolved.

Where is the love?

Where is the balance as we slot self-care into the fast lane drive that our lives have become?

What happens to us when we lose ourselves in the demands of life, and more importantly, what happens to our relationships?

How is it truly possible to have a healthy loving relationship with another person without first having created a healthy loving relationship with our individual selves?

When I asked myself these questions I was guided to write my own story Sunshine in Neverland. While writing about my journey, it became crystal clear that although we all have our own individual life stories, we share very similar human experiences and can easily relate with each other. After all, pain is pain, whatever and wherever the source comes from.

sunshine-in-neverland

When we connect to our story without judgement, it helps take us out of the concept of self-love and into a deeper bond with our own true heart. With this, we gain clearer insight and the ability to access our soul wisdom along the way. In addition, we build compassion on a bigger scale.

As each one of us courageously embarks on our own inner journey, whoever we are, wherever we have come from and whatever our experience, all of us have the ability to reach a place of deep inner peace, truth and love.

Loving yourself – it starts with you. But what does that truly mean?

In all the situations you are in, or have been involved with – you are the common denominator. You play the leading role.

We send unconscious messages to ourselves the whole time and these messages will be reflected back to us from the outside world to help us see and learn something about ourselves. If the message being sent is “I don’t matter” or “I’ll get to myself when everything else is done and everyone else is looked after”, the world will continually reflect this back to us until we eventually get tired enough to begin bringing ourselves into the equation. Only then can we see that our happiness and life matters, and, is just as important as the happiness and life of everyone we know and love.

It’s all about balance.

This doesn’t mean you don’t care for others – it simply means you care a little bit more for yourself.

Become your own best friend instead of your own worst enemy.

Our true friends are interested in us. They listen to us, want to get know who we are and what we love. They support us in our lives. Our job is to give ourselves the same level of respect as a dear and true friend would give to us. And give to our-selves the same love and respect we give to our most beloved friends.

Therefore we must listen and hear what is good, right and true for us. Otherwise, how can we get to know what we need far less give it?

What we can do to create the Real Deal!

The 5 Simple Steps

Following the 5 Steps to self love – not just now and again or even daily but consistently on a moment to moment basis — takes us from ‘doing’ to ‘being’ the real deal of self love. Practice, practice, practice and use as a tool when necessary.

1. STOP

self-love

To even be in the position to self-love, we need to stop. Or to put it another way – breathe.

Before any decision or action is taken, stop and breathe. The purpose of this is to check in with yourself first to see where you are physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This offers a moment of space to step back from any drama before we react from fear or a people-pleasing habit.

Stopping offers us the ability to respond to a situation from love, value, truth and honour. It’s the first step to loving ourselves.

See Also: 11 Simple Ways to Fall in Love With Yourself

2. STILL

Remember stopping doesn’t necessarily mean stillness. Our minds can be full of irrational thoughts even when we have stopped.

Stillness requires focus, practice, and presence. Being rooted in the present moment allows us to land in stillness and places us in the position to listen and connect to our truth on a deeper level before we make a decision.

3. LISTEN

With listening we get closer to honouring ourselves but in this step, our fear-based ego minds can still come up with many reasons, excuses, explanations and justifications to override ourselves at this point. To honour our-selves truly, we must drop deeper into the next step and hear from the compassion of our hearts. This allows us to have the same compassion for everyone involved. We hear our truth with our HEAR(T) which is the next step.

See Also: Self-Acceptance: The Key To True Happiness

4. HEAR

listening-with-our-hearts

Hearing is listening with our hearts, our honesty, compassion and kindness. It includes us in the equation and delivers the message to ourselves that we also matter. It helps us make decisions to honour ourselves and others.

5. ACTION

Taking action without first listening and hearing is usually reaction and it’s likely you are repeating the same habits as before from fear, habit, or stress. Taking responsible action, from a place of presence, honour and connection to a deeper truth delivers the message to yourself and others that you are on the ball with living from self-love, value and respect for yourself. If you have it for you – you will have it for everyone.

“When you awaken to your own inner power, you become the light in the darkness and are able to see the way through to the other side, bringing Sunshine into your own personal Neverland.”

Here’s to you becoming your own best friend.

For your life, love, and your eternal honour.

Top 10 Lifehacks Everybody Should Learn from Nurses

Do you know that some nurse life hacks are also useful outside the medical practice?

Nursing is a tough job. Over time, nurses developed their own life hacks that make daily patient care easier to accomplish. Due to their innate ingenuity and resourcefulness, some of their life hacks are actually useful not only in the hospital and wards, but also in our homes and offices.

Take a look at the following life hacks we can learn from nurses.

1. Use hydrogen peroxide for blood stains

Hydrogen peroxide is a basic staple in every household’s medicine cabinet. It is a handy antiseptic solution for minor cuts and wound care. But did you know that you can also use it in removing blood stains from fabrics?

Start by putting one to three drops of hydrogen peroxide directly to the blood stain. Wait for a minute before adding more drops.

The solution works best for blood stains on white fabrics. For colored fabrics, test for color fade reaction first by putting one drop of hydrogen peroxide in the inner hemline of the affected garment.

2. Use ground coffee beans as odor neutralizer

ground-coffee-odor-neutralizer

Nurses use ground coffee beans from their pantry as odor neutralizers in their station or in patents’ room. Ground coffee beans act like charcoal in absorbing unpleasant odors in an enclosed room. The fragrant coffee aroma also masks any unpleasant smell present.

Freshly grounded coffee beans work best but if it’s not available, you can also try used ground coffee bean from coffee making machines. Just put a handful amount in a bowl and leave near the source of the unpleasant smell.

If you need a lot, coffee shops will commonly give it out to you for free.

3. Smell alcohol swabs to relieve nausea

Feeling nauseous? Reach out for some alcohol pads and swipe one under your nose. If alcohol pads are not available, rub a small amount of isopropyl alcohol on your palm and take a whiff.

While nurses get used to different medicines and body fluids, they sometimes have a bad day and end up feeling nauseous hence this little trick. Sometimes, they even swipe their facemasks with alcohol if they need to get back to bedside care while still feeling nauseated.

The sharp smell of alcohol is effective in relieving nausea for most people. This life hack is also helpful in relieving sinus discomfort.

4. Use alcohol to remove tangled, matted hair

Bedridden patients have one thing in common – tangled, matted hair. Nurses solve this problem by pouring a small amount of alcohol over patient’s matted hair.

Alcohol dissolves oiliness and breaks down any other substance that may be causing tangles. It also removes unpleasant hair odor.

To use this trick, put a moderate amount of alcohol in your palm and rub in matted hair. Let the solution stay for one to two minutes before trying to untangle hair with a wide-toothed comb.

5. Remove unpleasant odor from your hands with toothpaste

It’s typical for nurses to be involved in stinky situations. When they clean and replace the diapers of bedridden patients, the smell sometimes sticks on their hands even while sill covered with latex gloves. For strong odors, handwashing is not enough and this is when they learned to use toothpaste as a trick.

To dissolve any unpleasant odor left in your hands, just rub toothpaste between your palms. Wait for three minutes before rinsing and wash again with soap and water. It is best to use minty bubblegum toothpaste but if not available, using any regular toothpaste is also effective.

6. Put an ice pack behind your ear for persistent nausea and vomiting

If you are suffering from persistent nausea and vomiting, put an ice pack behind your ear for 5-10 minutes intermittently. You can also try moving the ice pack downward to your nape.

Cases of persistent nausea and vomiting can be related to inner ear problems. This can be relieved by putting an ice pack behind the ears. It can also be related to stress and for this case, rotating the ice pack around the nape area will offer relaxing relief.

7. Use heated blankets for calming

If you have an elderly family member or a sick patient in your home who feels restless, calm them down with the help of a heated blanket. This will also keep your patient from getting out of bed too much.

If not contraindicated, keep the room dark and cool for an even more calming environment.

8. Put Vicks under your nose when dealing with unpleasant odors

Nurses are used to unpleasant stinks but sometimes, smells get so strong that they need a good shield for their noses. Facemasks are not enough and during these times, Vicks is a handy solution.

If you can’t stand a particular smell but need to finish a particular task, just rub Vicks under your nose and breathe in the menthol scent.

9. Use mouthwash for smelly rooms

mouthwash-for-smelly-rooms

Aside from ground coffee beans, mouthwash solution is also effective in absorbing unpleasant odors in a room. Nurses put a washcloth soaked with mouthwash solution in a kidney basin and they leave it at bedside. It absorbs unpleasant smells while filling the room with a minty scent.

You can use this life hack in deodorizing a room especially during winter season. In a small bowl, just soak washcloth in 1 part of mouthwash and 1/2 part of water. Leave it at the center of the room for the whole day.

10. Keep kids and elderly occupied by folding washcloths

Kids, elderly folks, or sick patients can get restless in bed. If you don’t want them getting out of bed when they need to be staying still and resting, give them a pile of stuff to fold. They can be washcloths or handkerchiefs. This little household task should keep them busy for awhile until they feel drowsy or tired again.

BONUS! Use shaving cream to remove sticky feces

We’re sure nurses aren’t the only ones who get the run-in with sticky feces stubbornly sticking to skin. If you ever get in this situation (maybe from a pet or a baby running around the house), it’s shaving cream to the rescue.

Before you try wipes, apply a glob of shaving cream. Leave on for awhile until it loosens the sludge from your skin or from cloth faster.

We hope you can recall these nurse life hacks as needed. There’s no harm in trying them out as they are time-tested tricks of nurses in their work.

7 Ways to Make Your Angry Wife Happy

Happy wife, happy life. If you’ve heard this before, you know that if you pissed off your wife royally bad, you have to make her happy again.

Even though each woman is different, some traits are common to all including feeling happy when showered with kindness and appreciation. Let her know how much you think about her, how glad your wife makes you with her existence and how much you care for her.

If you’re getting the cold shoulder, here are some ways to turn it around:

1. Do something amazing and lovable

Search out a special gift or throw a surprise party. Keep in mind, a beautiful flower a day keeps the quarrel at bay. This is the common and most usual technique to lift your partner’s spirits.

2. Treat her to a holiday

shopping-spree

If your pocket can take it, she will definitely enjoy a lavish cruise in gentle waters and blonde sunshine. Propose to take her out for shopping and be openly keen on the places your wife wants to explore.

If you’ve been spending too much time at work, a holiday would also benefit you.

3. Write a romantic and sweet poem or love note for her

Romantic gestures don’t have to be expensive. If you can’t afford that luxury cruise, how about DIY-ing something your wife would love?

Handwritten romantic love letters never go out of style. Write down your most genuine and sincere feelings and they will be sure to reach her.

4. Plan dates around her interests

If she loves to watch movies, buy a ticket to a movie she’s been waiting to see. If she loves gourmet food, learn one recipe and try it out for a special dinner with just the two of you. Whether you succeed or not at whatever you plan, your wife will see your effort and be touched by it.

5. Be a good listener

good-listener

Some women (and men) suffer from feelings of neglect. Oftentimes, all they need is to know that one person loves them wholeheartedly and listens to them. Be that person for her.

When she encounters any troubles, pay attention carefully to your wife and explain your concern by uttering sounds of solace. Put down your mobile phone and instead give her your 100% attention.

6. Keep your sense of humor

When a person is angry, she might not be in the mood for jokes or humor. However, avoid clashing with her temper too as this will not yield any positive results. Instead, bide your time and know when to lighten the mood around the house.

7. Do any household chores that your wife really hates

Think of a household chore that your wife REALLY hates to do. Maybe she hates to do the laundry or do the cooking. Now start doing those for her for a couple of days.

Though presents and holidays are perfect but expensive treats, consider that there other heartfelt ways to turn around your wife’s state of mind. A shower of love and affection and a truly affectionate heart is needed to make her feel happy.

10 Ways To Woo A Girl The Right Way!

Everyone loves being wooed! But, if you think that courtship ends once you already have the girl (or guy), think again. Wooing your partner doesn’t stop once you decide to enter a relationship.  Instead, real lasting relationships are ones where each one continues to make an effort for the other.

Whether you’re just starting out or have been in relationships for a long time, here are 10 tips on how to woo a girl (or a guy) the right way.

1. Be Genuine

We live in a world wherein being genuine has become such a rare quality. People are always being fake, pretending to be someone they’re not in order to impress the girl. Just think of online social media platforms where single men and women create “images” of themselves.

In person though, a discerning eye can tell real people from fakes. Be genuine and be appreciated for who you truly are.

2. Be chivalrous

I would strongly like to believe that chivalry isn’t dead. Be polite, open doors, walk on the traffic side of the road, and escort her and her friend’s home.

You may think these are small things but these small gestures will never go unnoticed. It’s not that she can’t do these things by herself but it is always good to know that there is someone whose looking out for her.

3. Give her your undivided attention

undivided-attention

Get off that mobile phone of yours when you are with her. You will have plenty of time to check game scorse or reply to your messages and emails when you are home. Unless it is extremely urgent, it will always be appreciated if you can give your phones a rest and give your undivided attention to her.

4. Notice her and likes & dislikes

Always take mental notes of her likes and dislikes and surprise her when she least expects it. Take her to her favorite concert, order her favorite drink when she’s running late, notice when she gets a haircut or wears something different.

She will really appreciate the fact that you are taking a keen interest in her and what she likes, and it will make her feel very happy.

5. Be there when she needs someone

You sure as hell don’t need to be a girl’s doormat but you definitely want to be her shoulder to cry on when she needs it. If she needs someone by her side, make sure it’s you. It will show her how committed, dependable and serious you are about having her in your life and wanting to be in hers.

6. Don’t keep talking about yourself, learn to listen

Noone likes a person who only talks about themselves and shows no interest in learning about the other person. If you are only going to keep bragging about yourself and your life, rest assured she will not turn to give you another look. Show a real interest in getting to know her better; it will take you a long way.

7. Make her feel special

If she is having a bad day, let her vent to you and be supportive about it. In fact, all you probably need to do is to listen.

Remember small dates like the first time you’ve met or the first time you took her out on a date. Make an effort to celebrate these with her. Do whatever is in your power to make her feel loved and cherished.

8. Keep that element of surprise

surprise-her

Now that you have learnt about what makes her happy, surprise her by using that information to your advantage. If she has a fantasy of a perfect date, make it happen for her. If she’s feeling low, show up on her doorstep to take her for a drive. Keep the element of surprise alive in order to keep her wondering and the excitement going.

9. Let her know that you are thinking about her

Drop her a message in the middle of the workday to check how her day is going or pick her up from work so that you’ll get that extra 30 minutes to spend together. Message her good morning first thing when you wake up or send her flowers or any small memento that makes you think of her.

Whatever big or small it maybe, show her that you are thinking about her.

10. Open up to her:

Many men are brought up to avoid being vulnerable in front of the girl. However, think about it. You only open up in front of people you truly care about and are truly confortable with. If you talk about your fears or your problems or what makes you sad, it will show her that you are really invested in her and are not there just to pass your time.

We live in a world where women are strong and independent. They don’t need a man to be able to provide for them. They don’t need someone who can pay for a date. They are more than capable of doing that themselves.

Instead, how about a man who can treat them right because somehow that breed has become very rare in the 21st century. Make her feel loved and special. Always think of being in the wooing phase even after being in a stable relationship for a while.

This way you will never take each other for granted. Often, spontaneity is the key to a happy relationship. Be on your toes and keep her on hers. In turn, she will surprise you with her love and loyalty as well.

As Marilyn Monroe says, “A girl doesn’t need anyone who doesn’t need her.

3 Things You Should Keep In Mind About Fiancés and Finances

Love and marriage are two words that more often than not go together. And yet, finances is another variable that couples must consider seriously before they pledge to a lifelong commitment.

If you are thinking of going into a longterm relationship or are already in the middle of one, here is a must-read list of tips about couples and finances.

1. Find your financial match

financial-match

According to Charles Murray in his piece, “Advice for a Happy Life”, timeliness, cleanliness, and frugality are the three critical commonalities for a successful union. While these attributes may seem minor in comparison to hobbies or political beliefs, they are quotidian conversations, meaning, they come up every day. They’re the quintessential “everyday struggle”.

So, if you are tight with money, then it behooves you to marry someone also tight. If you like to regularly treat yourself, having to convince your partner of every little luxury– will be exhausting. Choose your financial match to avoid weekly arguments.

If you’re not feeling convinced, consider that finances are the number one cause of relationships stress. In the words of Muhammed Ali, “It isn’t the mountains ahead that wear you down. It’s the pebble in your shoe.”

2. The worst-case scenario

Eating brownie batter, with its raw eggs, is a fun game of Russian roulette. While adults love to warn about the dangers of Salmonella, the bacteria is actually not that common. Turns out, only about 1 in 20,000 eggs are actually infected.

In the case of marriage, however, about 40% end in divorce. If you’re a couple below age 25, then the odds jump to 60%. So, marriage is a much more daunting game of Russian roulette.

To keep the odds in your favor, it may be helpful to talk with your partner about the worst-case scenarios. What are deal-breakers? How would you strive to behave in a break-up? How would you attempt to cooperate?

Emotional trauma aside, being able to work as a team in divorce can save you thousands. Of course, it will be hard to act logically so remember that the average cost of divorce is around $20,000. If this makes you ill, then talk preemptively about an “uncontested” option, where both of you agree to the terms. By avoiding expensive litigation, you could save around 80% of sunken divorce costs.

3. Income & tax sharing

income-and-tax-sharing

Couples manage finances different ways. It is generally thought, however, that merging accounts & assets is the best way to inspire mutual trust and accountability. Furthermore, it’s simply easier to keep track of.

For newlyweds, however, it may take time to arrive at this place of trust. Therefore, it’s possible to do the process slowly, with each party adding money into a shared fund until everything is merged.

In the same vein, it’s important to decide if you’re going to file taxes jointly or separately. Honestly, there are only a few reasons to file separately, such as deep medical debt. Otherwise, it’s not worth the extra time.

Adjust your W-4 tax forms with your respective employers, so that your little family isn’t underpaying in taxes. For a married couple that both work, it’s likely that each of you should claim one allowance, or one of you claim both and the other, none.

While it’s hard or seemingly impossible to contemplate an end to a relationship when you’re just starting out, couples should also make preparations and arrangements for their future to head off potential rows and fights.
