Checkerboard Canyon is one of the most remote canyons you’ll find in Zion. Because of the long day it requires, it’s not done very often. We really wanted to get out before dark, so I couldn’t take many photos. But here’s one from near the top of the canyon with some really nice glowing light off this huge canyon wall. The canyon comes out above Big Springs in the Narrows.

May 30th on the north side of Leoti, Kansas this past spring. A tough day of chasing marginal storms, but we ended up with a nice shelf cloud in this town that soon rolled over us and left behind a gorgeous sunset with the falling rain and lightning bolts everywhere. Such a great way to end a day that started in Texas and ended up in Kansas!
