The weather had been pretty terrible from November through to January in Devon, I thought it was never going to end. So when the forecast promised some sun first thing the next morning I was pretty excited. I thought it could have been a good opportunity to get a sunrise shot. I arrived in Torquay and waited, I walked looking around for a composition and waited some more, the sun was nowhere to be seen. As the tide was rising fast, I took this moody shot from the far end of the beach looking toward Thatcher rock. I got myself back off that part of the beach well before I could get cut off by the rising tide.

This shot of Ultar Sar peak (7288m) was taken, during dramatic sunset, from Hoper village in Nagar valley. Ultar Sar is the southeastern major peak of the Batura Muztagh, a subrange of the Karakoram range.
