I headed for Wastwater as the forecast gave a chance of snow showers (plus I haven’t been up that way for ages) and I was hoping the light might be quite interesting. Alas, it wasn’t to be, 20 minutes after arriving in came the rain and there was no sign of it subsiding.

Junk boat tours and sea kayak expeditions take visitors past islands named for their shapes, including Stone Dog and Teapot islands. The region draws scuba divers, rock climbers and hikers, the latter favoring mountainous Cát Bà National Park.
