Altar by stealthstudios by stealthstudios

It is difficult to convey the grand scale of St Peter’s Basilica in Rome in a single photo – this is one of my better attempts. The height of the interior arches, interplay of the light from the done, detail of the stone/marble and opulence of the gold and altar pieces are unparalleled. Despite the throngs of tourists (and pilgrims) crowding the place, I managed to grab this shot from a decent vantage point.

The Park of Lights by jakewysocki by jakewysocki

We stopped by this installation of concrete columns on our walking tour. They light up at night, but during they day they were also pretty awesome!

Devi figures, Banteay Srei by allenfotowild by allenfotowild

A closer look at the intricate stone carvings at the 10th century Hindu temple at Banteay Srei, also called the Pavilion of the Women. Many carvings of devi figures, Hindu female divinities occur at the temple. Here the blind entrance to the west entrance of the north tower of the sanctuary building is flanked by two devi figures.
