This picture isn’t perfect, but I like it how it is.
I was alone on the beach that day, my parents looking at me from the terrace up from the beach. I hadn’t seen the sea in a while, and had just travelled down to Algarve from London, drank one too many sangria, but still decided to take a photo down on the beach.
I’m telling you this because it’s actually a funny story. These vespas are probably the smallest toys I own. They are so tiny, I had to put my knees on the sand to capture the image. I wanted the wave to come as near as possible, to get some sort of reflection, something, some detail on the sand. A wave came, but it caught me by surprise and completely soaked me.
After being soaked – tbh it happens 90% of the time when I shoot by the sea, I just stopped caring about the water and tried to snap the best possible picture considering 1) I was soaked, 2) the toys kept on falling 3) nearly 3 waves almost took them away for good 4) I was very soaked 5) I was tipsy because of the sangria and the tiredness.
So even if the image isn’t perfect, there’s no water to reflect, the front wheels are hidden in the sand, the yellow Vespa isn’t even in focus, I just want to share this with you all, because it resumes what these photographs mean to me.
I had a bloody good time taking them. I couldn’t stop laughing or smiling. Even if I could have stayed and sat at the terrace with my parents, I let my little inner child take over and went to play in the sand for over 40 minutes, with no great shots in the end, but it really didn’t matter. All that matters to me, is just knowing something that I know always make me happy.

A State Park In Roswell, New Mexico. It’s Located Along The Pecos River. Interestingly, The Lakes Are Not Fed By Streams But Fed By Underground Water. Due To The High Rate Of Evaporation In The Desert Area, Its Water Is A Little Bit Saltier Than Fresh Water.
