5 Feelings You Want To Create To Get Your Emails Read

how to get your email read

how to get your email read

Nobody believes that companies open every email they get. In fact there is little hope at all that the majority of the emails your send will get read – even with an interesting subject line. The truth is it’s harder and harder with the sheer volume of emails being sent out, to stand out. So how do you do it?

The answer is simple. According to a study done by Unbounce there are some specific words and symbols that will get your email noticed but more importantly read. The most interesting find is that the words themselves are not as important as the feelings they create in the recipient of your email.

You will feel positivity and…

  • Curiousness

The word “introducing” is in itself an “attention grabber”. It is statistically proven to increase the email open rate by a quite nice 7.36%. The reader will get excited that by reading an email introducing him to a new experience, product or a service. It stokes curiosity, hopefully enough so that they will want to know more and read further.

Example taken from Campaign Monitor:

Introducing Canvas: A better way to send emails

  • Inclusiveness

“You” together with its equivalents is getting your email up close and personal with your reader. Using this word in a subject line will get you a solid opening rate percentage too, 4.07% to be exact. It will happen many times that you won’t know the name of the person you are sending the email too but you can still make it more personal by using just the word “you”.

People are creatures of habit and will usually pay way more attention if the email subject line reads something related directly to them.

Example taken from: HubSpot

What can you afford?

  • Exclusivity

“Invite” with its staggering open rate percentage of 9.45% this is one of THE words to use if you wanna get your email not just opened but more importantly read.

People reading a subject line with “Invitation or Invite” feel exclusive, excited, curious and included and have a sense of being wanted as a part of something or improve something.

This word is often used by survey companies and data centres.

Example taken from: Support2

We would like to invite you, as a tenured employee, to participate in this employee benefits satisfaction survey.

Of course don’t forget to include the link or the invite with your email before you send it.

A good, short and fast example of an invite to try a product is here: http://ift.tt/1AFJ5T2

  • Urgency & Scarecity

“Hurry” right in the email subject is definitely heightening the chances of getting it read.

Especially if the body of your email requires an immediate action from the recipient.

People will feel they have only limited amount of time to get something done otherwise they can miss out. And people generally don’t like to miss out.

Be careful though! Only use it, if the truth is reflected further in the body of your email. If you start using “hurry” with every email you send, it loses its strength and meaning and your emails will start to become ignored.

Example taken from: Campaign Monitor

Hurry! Only three consultation spots left.

  • Togetherness

“We” in all its forms is another gem with an open rate stats of 5.87%. It creates a sense of ”togetherness”. Using the word “we” or its equivalent creates a feeling that you are including the person in your event or decision making process and showing them that their opinion matters. It also drives the chances of getting a response much higher.

And besides it is way more personal than writing “To whom it may concern” or “ Dear XY”.

Example taken from: Windsor Circle

The bottom line

People tend to either overdo the subject line or keep it overly simple or boring.

A subject line is however often more important than body of the email itself. It is the only thing your reader can see as your email hits their inbox. Based on what words and how stronger words you choose to use and the feeling the reader will feel when reading, it can be a decider between opening or sending straight to the trash folder.

Here are more examples incorporating some of the words we have discussed into one subject line:

To finish off, some golden rules of an unmissable, irresistible email subject line: Keep it short, make it catchy, give a deadline, be personal and stay on point. And of course create a positive feeling.

4 Unusual Steps To Attract More Money Into Your Life

Are you struggling to attract money? I did, until I started following 4 unusual steps that have changed my financial and personal life.

Since then, I’ve been experiencing one success after another.

A reputable publisher asked me to write a book. Ideas flow effortlessly to me. The right people, information, and solution come up unexpectedly when any challenge arise.

4_unusual_steps_to_attract_more_money_into_your_lifeI’ve become a human magnet for wealth, wonderful opportunities, creative ideas, and good luck. And now, I want to share these 4 steps with you so you too can experience the same.

Step 1: Have A Big Enough “Why.”

Imagine for a moment that you’re earning $2000 a month from your day job. Then one day, your mom (who has no savings) called to tell you that she has a serious illness; but it can be cured through medical treatments worth $3000 monthly.

If you love your mom, would you be able to find a way to pay for her medical expenses along with your personal expenses? Absolutely!

If you have a big enough “why”, you would do anything to achieve what you want.

So let me ask you…

Why do you want more wealth or prosperity? The reason must have a strong emotional attachment to you.

The pleasure you want to attain must be so gratifying – or the pain you want to avoid must be so agonizing – that you would put 100% of your focus and efforts to accomplish your financial goals.

If for example, you’re stuck in a dead end job but you want to operate your own business, your “why” (as it relates to pain) could be something like… you want to stop waking up depressed every morning, avoid hours of traffic, and stop worrying about whether you could pay for emergencies and other expenses.

Your “why” (as it relates to pleasure) could be something like… you want to work and earn massively on what you truly love to do, be with your family more often, and enjoy your life to the fullest.

Step 2: Change Your Limiting Wealth Beliefs.

Okay, so you said you want to be rich. But deep inside, do you believe that…

– Rich people are greedy or dishonest?
– Your friends and relatives would take advantage of you if you’re wealthy?
– Having plenty of money makes you spiritually poor?
– Money can’t buy happiness?
– Getting wealthy is not your destiny?
– You’re too old (or too young or too uneducated, etc.) to get rich?
And the classic…
– Money is the root of all evil?

If you answered “yes” to any one or more of the above, then you have to change those limiting beliefs pronto!

You can’t expect to attract money if you’re repelling it at the same time.

Mingle with wealthy people and you will realize they’re among the most generous and honest individuals you could meet.

Realize that by being rich, you could help a lot of people (and still have more than enough for yourself and loved ones).

By tithing or contributing to a worthy cause, you could boost your happiness and spiritual well-being at the same time. (After all, God loves cheerful givers.)

Your destiny is in your own hands. And it’s never too late nor too early to start accumulating wealth. Stop making excuses!

As Bill Gates said, “If you are born poor, it’s not your mistake. But if you die poor, it’s your mistake.”

Step 3: Surround Yourself With Wealthy, Optimistic People.

If you’re serious in attracting wealth, you have to be around rich and successful people as much as possible.

The best thing you could do is find one or more mentors who are already successful in the field you want to enter. You could leverage from their knowledge, experience, and connections. By modeling their system and getting access to their network, you could get a head start and gain momentum in the process.

The next best thing is to attend their seminars, read their books or watch their videos (if they have any). That way, you can adopt their positive mindset, beliefs, and attitude.

On the contrary, beware those people in your life who always complain, discourage you from achieving your goals, drain your energy, or simply make you feel bad. Avoid them at all cost!

Associate and surround yourself only with the right people, so their “aura” can rub off on you. Your financial destiny depends on it!

Step 4: Immerse Yourself With “Wealth Reminders”.

“Wealth Reminders” are stuffs that remind you of wealth and other things that you want to be, do, or have.

They will program your mind to be conscious of abundance and prosperity.

Here are some ideas:

– Create a vision board where you paste images of money and other things you desire (such as a mansion, a luxury car, etc.). Put it in a place where you could see it often. Mentally and emotionally put yourself in those images and let your imagination go wild for a few minutes.

– Create a video (aka mind movies) filled with images and affirmations that support your financial goals. Watch it as often as you can. (If you don’t know how to create a video, hire a video creator from Fiverr.com for just 5 bucks.)

– Write million dollar checks payable to yourself. Put them in your ceiling, in your bathroom mirror, in your wallet, and any other possible spots you can think of.

– Choose a desktop wallpaper or background that depicts stacks of $100 bills or other things that remind you of money.

– Use everyday things with designs that represent wealth and abundance. It could be anything – clothes, blankets, pens, notebooks, plates… the sky’s the limit.

On the other hand, eliminating negative influences and things is just as important. Throw or give away stuffs that make you feel down. Avoid watching the news and stop reading gossip magazines.

Follow these 4 unusual ways and you’ll soon find yourself getting more wealth opportunities, creating more profitable ideas, and simply having more “lucky” experiences than you’ve ever had in your life.

10 Habits That Will Make You Happy Today (Even If Life Isn’t Going Your Way)

10 Habits That Will Make You Happy Today (Even If Life Isn't Going Your Way)

the habits of happy people

In 2010, after losing my job and being unable to find another one for close to a year, I fell into a deep depression. During this time I read dozens (maybe a hundred) books on happiness, purpose and meaning, trying to cheer myself up.

Here are ten of the best habits from my research to help you become happier today – even if your life feels like it’s in the dumps.

1. Create your flow list.

One of the things that most helped me during this time period was to track all my happiest moments during the day – even if there were very few. Even if I could only track the few happy moments each week, I did.

When I tracked all of the best moments during the week, initially I found small things: drinking a coffee in the morning, reading a great book, or taking a shower. Gradually the happy things became bigger and more frequent.

Once I figured out which moments were happy and “flow producing” for me, I scheduled more of them into my routine. For me that usually meant spending time each day to read a book in a great café, or taking the time to go for a long walk with my dog.

Whereas I usually found myself thinking about all the things going horribly in my life, I found that if I actually scheduled happiness activities into my routine, I would do them without fail.

  1. Stop doing what doesn’t work.

This sounds crazy, but usually if we’re unhappy, we’re feeling stuck in life. Whether that’s due to our relationships or whether that’s due to finances, our job, or just lacking purpose and meaning, something isn’t working.

Whatever aspect of life isn’t working well – let’s say relationships – do an evaluation. Do I keep attracting the same kind of people? Do I keep making the same mistake? Do I keep forgetting to make time for my partner? Whatever isn’t working – stop doing it.

  1. Cultivate a happiness diet.

We’re so used to changing our physical diet to improve our physical health, but what about changing our mental and psychological diet for our happiness health?

Think about it.

On a diet, we remove things that don’t help us like Oreos or cakes, and then we add things that do help us – like plants and water.

On a happiness diet, we remove things that aren’t making us happy – like certain people, routines, or schedules.

And then we add things that DO help us become happy – an activity every single day we enjoy, being around more people that inspire us, and filling our mind with things that create happiness and inspiration, not fear.

What things can you add or subtract to your happiness diet?

  1. Eliminate energy leaks.

Throughout the day, there are always certain people, places, or activities that are energy leaks.

You know, there are always people filled with negativity, fear, and the latest gossip they’ve found on the television. And there are other people that are filled with inspiration, happiness, and motivation.

How does each person make you feel after you interact with him or her?

How does each situation make you feel after you’re involved in it?

Do certain places or people make you just feel tired after dealing with them?

Another big thing that we sometimes forget is that fear and anxiety are also energy leaks – the more we let them into our mind, the more they exhaust us and prevent us from doing what we have to do to be happy.

  1. Replace fear with vision.

Once of the toughest things for me during this rough patch in my life was trying to overcome the constant anxiety and fear that was filling my mind every time I tried to push myself forward.

It seemed like every single time I would take a step forward, one little barrier would get in my way and the massive self doubt would settle in again, “Oh, you’re never going to make it, you don’t know what you’re doing, you don’t deserve this, you’re not progressing fast enough.”

And if I wasn’t careful, the fear itself would crush me, and it would sometimes take a day or longer to recover from it and begin again.

One of the core practices that helped me during this time was visualizing the future I wanted – any time the feeling of fear cropped up. So once I sensed a little bit of self-doubt creeping into my life, I took the time to pause for five minutes, visualize the life I wanted in full detail, and then continue on my way.

This never failed to keep me focused and inspired.

  1. Take the first step… even if you can’t see the staircase.

There were so many days, weeks, months and years where I was utterly paralyzed because I couldn’t figure out the exact path that was going to get me to where I wanted to be – all the way there.

And it took me a very long time to realize that we often don’t know step 2 until we take step 1. And the problem is that step 2 doesn’t even reveal itself unless we just start walking.

So sometimes it can be easy to find ourselves overwhelmed and frustrated because we’re living in our mind – trying to figure it all out before we even step.

One of the best kept secrets that a mentor once told me was this: once you take the first step into the dark, enchanted forest, you’ll see exactly where step #2 is.

  1. Reframe limitations.

I’ll never forget, a few years back when I was working for someone else, I told myself, “I will never be happy as long as I work for someone else.”

And you know what happened? I never was happy working for someone else – even when I had objectively amazing jobs, great bosses, incredible colleagues with good pay and more. I had poisoned my mind by “promising” to myself (or rather, negatively affirming) that I would never be happy “so long as…”

Sometimes this happens in other aspects of life though. We tell ourselves we’ll never be happy if we’re single. Or we’ll never be happy as long as we’re overweight, or as long as we live in this location.

And those become self-fulfilling prophecies more often than not. One thing that really helped me during this time was writing down all negative self-talk – and then I wrote affirmations that were the exact opposite.

So if I told myself “I’ll never be fully happy single” the affirmation was, “I’m always happy, regardless of whether or not I’m in a relationship.”

  1. Create a life changing morning focus routine.

By far, and I mean by far, one of the biggest things that saved my life when I was in the dumps was a morning routine.

Now I don’t know about you, but for me the morning is often the least focused, and the unhappiest part of the day. My mind wanders. I’m tired. I’m groggy.

There were a few things I started doing that immediately jumpstarted my day and put me on the trajectory I wanted to be on.

Here’s what that looked like:

10 minutes of yoga, which helped me wake up, provided my brain with oxygen, and made the next step easier.

10 minutes of meditation, which helped me start the day with a “clear” head and no negativity in my mind.

10 minutes of visualizing my goals, which allowed me to focus on what I wanted in my life – and made me consider how I could possibly get there.

This three-part morning routine has dramatically impacted my life – and years later I still do this.

  1. Think about what you want – not what you don’t want.

When life isn’t going well, it’s extremely easy to think about all the stuff that isn’t going well.

“Ugh, I hate my job.”

“Ugh, did my partner just really say that to me?”

“Ugh, I’m so tired of waking up to this routine I hate.”

Unfortunately, when we do this the mind simply filters out all the good stuff, and keeps us looking for the bad stuff.

Have you ever dated someone for a long time (or been married) and found yourself one day picking out a particular “flaw” the person had – and then all you could see was flaws for days or weeks on end?

The mind is funny like that – when we emphasize what’s not working, we keep finding more things that aren’t working.

But the opposite is also true – when we focus on all the awesome things in life, we begin to see and experience more of them.

  1. Make uncertainty known.

One of the things that really prevented me from taking action was overwhelm with all of the things I felt like I could be doing to improve my life, when I was at rock bottom.

“Do I get a new job?”

“Do I make new friends first?”

“Do I pick up some new hobbies?”

Through all of the overwhelm, one exercise helped me immensely: I just wrote down all the things frustrating or confusing me, and I learned that once they were down on paper, they either weren’t as confusing as I thought, or they were not as scary as I thought.

In fact, they usually weren’t that big of a deal. Just by putting my fears on paper it made everything a lot clearer.

When we’re afraid, just by writing down the problem it can help us distance ourselves from it, and get the clarity we need to move forward.

These ten daily habits dramatically improved my life and helped me get through a long period at the bottom – what has helped you?
