Paying Reverence To The Rising Moon by JeffDeveau

This is a capture of the rising moon over the famous tree in Joshua Tree National Park. About 8 months ago I saw a image similar to this here and decided I wanted to take one like it only wider. I opened up the photographers ephemeris and found out when the next time the moon would be low and over the rock and tree at sunrise. it was about 6 months away. I told Chip Morton one of our other instructors from California Captures about it and we patiently waited for the date to come. I drove out the night before and met chip who had been camping here a few days. when the time came we climbed up the little hill it sits on and setup under the stars and waited for the sun to rise. We got a few minutes of nice color in the sky with a amazingly clear moon. It all worked out and I got the shot I was after. This image is a focus stacked image. The moon was shot in the position you see it at 400mm and layered back into the wide angled shot.

To see more of our images follow our other californiacaptures.net instructors on 500px.

Make-up by Elbie Van Eeden

Wonderland began in the summer of 2009 and has now been running for almost 4 years. It is a photographic series I started in memory of my mother who died of cancer in 2008 and is entirely self funded. I work as an artist and design or create almost everything within the frame by hand including the costumes, props and sets. There are no designers, stylists or wardrobe people involved. The scenes are all shot on location, and everything is true scale and colour. I have kept a detailed 4 year journal on my website entitled ‘Diary’ which shows how most of the pictures were created including videos and lots of behind the scenes photographs. Some of these pictures have taken up to 5 months to make everything for 1 shot. There’s so much to explain its impossible to write it all here, so to read about the project in detail, please visit this link – http://ift.tt/19HScEn

The series is planned to be finished by the end of the summer 2013, and I will then produce the book and exhibition. The Limited Editions are available for sale through my website or various galleries, details are on my ‘websites ‘Buy Art’ page.
