In the beautiful national park Þingvellir, there is a little church. Þingvallakirkja is one of Iceland’s first churches. The original was consecrated in the 11th century, but the current wooden building only dates from 1859. Normally, one encounters churches in populated areas such as villages and cities. This little church is in the middle of the national park, with only a few house in its vicinity. What a beautiful place to go for a prayer! For a more elaborate description of the beautiful park Þingvellir, take a look at a landscape photo of it in my portfolio.
