We don’t get too many tropical storms blowing through Southern California. When we do, they bring warm air and puffy clouds that we don’t often see at sunset. The extra moisture in the air also produces the gorgeous light that bathed this crater-filled reef in gold. When the tide is right at this spot, the wave action produces a frothy surface that truly makes this place feel like another planet, like you’re standing on the edge of a methane sea on Titan.
Getting to the coast at sunset is always a treat, but its extra fun when all of these elements combine to create something unforgettable.
