Elowah Falls is one of the more impressive waterfalls in Oregon’s famous Columbia River Gorge. I’ve wanted an image of it with spring foliage for a few years now, and was finally able to make one this year. I knew I wanted a horizontal composition that showcased the surrounding foliage of the entire scene, and I wanted to avoid the fallen logs taking over or obstructing the view. There are numerous similar-ish compositions to be found in the one small area of the stream with a clear view of the falls, but I haven’t seen this particular arrangement before. An oft-photographed place, to be sure, but since I’m about to head out on a multi-day rainforest backpacking trip with a couple good friends, I’ve got green on my mind. My backlog of images to process from the past six months will have to wait a while longer!
