These formations, known as quartzose sandstones, were deposited during the Eocene Epoch. They date from around 38 to 50 million years ago. These are some of the most intricate and bizarre formations I’ve seen in Northern Utah. This image was taken during twilight when moonlight illuminated the interior of the canyon.
