Moonlit Kalapana Lava Field by tomkualii by tomkualii

Once a month the moon would set over the Kalapana Lava Field and each month I attempted to get a panoramic shot from Pu’u O’o on the far right up on the pali or cliff down to the lava ocean entry. Most of the time the lava flows through a tube system to the ocean. Depending on volume, sometimes its to much and it creates surface flows. This shot being my seventh attempt is my best out of many. Sometimes you would see a strong glow on the hill but nothing much at the ocean. A lot of times the clouds blocked the moon. This image has a slight glow at Pu’u O’o and two ocean lava entries. It takes us about an hour hike just to get to this point to see the new lava field and determine where we are going to shoot. I must say I have been blessed to see this. Hope you like it. Aloha
